Long shot, but if you're in D.C. in the Fort Totten area, one of my cats is missing. Exie is a short hair tuxedo, gray and white. Has a flea collar around his neck. He's missing all his teeth but one, so he won't last long out in the wild. #dc#washington#washingtondc
#StefanieLambert, a #Michigan lawyer who has championed dubious claims of election fraud, was arrested Mon afternoon because of a bench warrant, acc/to a spox for the #USMarshals Service.
The #arrest ended an 11-day saga of uncertainty that played out after Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Jeffery Matis issued a #warrant because #StefanieLambert failed to appear for a hearing related to 4 #felony charges she's facing in #Michigan.
Lambert, who's gained prominence among supporters of Trump, refused to turn herself in & attempted to challenge the warrant in court filings. On Wed, Matis called on the attorney from South Lyon "to comply with that warrant."
One reporter asked the #USMarshals later to comment on whether an #arrest was made of #StefanieLambert, & they declined to answer the question. The hearing room's doors, at that point, were locked.
Later Mon evening, Mike Dito, a public information officer for the U.S. Marshals Service, confirmed Lambert had been #arrested.
@GottaLaff@Wileymiller and banning books, eliminating women’s rights and attacking LGBTQ+ rights, the attempted overthrow of the US government…quite the shopping list.
Kid just suggested a #DC#Marvel cross over "what if". What if Thor and Wonder Woman hung out together?
Pretty sure it isn't a date, but I can see them having a fellow warrior hang out, which leads to a drinking contest, which leads to an arm wrestling contest, and now I want to see Gail Simone write this.
long 🧵 from Matthew Seligman on possible #Trump#DC#trial timelines
(1) As long as the #SCOTUS rejects Trump’s #immunity claim by the end of this Term in June, Trump’s trial should start before #Election Day.
(2) Whether the trial ends before ElectionDay depends on 3 factors:
(i) exactly when the #SupremeCourt issues its decision;
(ii) whether Judge #Chutkan compresses the pre-trial schedule; &
(iii) how long the trial takes.
One way that could happen is if #SCOTUS holds that the president is #immune for some subset of ofcl acts.
But—& this is important—not all holdings that are more protective of the executive branch would require fact-finding. As Jack Goldsmith has written, there may be reasonable concerns about prosecuting #POTUS under generally applicable statutes. But the Court can potentially address those concerns w/o a remand for (extensive) fact-finding.
