It's eye-wateringly expensive, does anyone have any experience with these to give me a sense of how well it would work with Steam before I close my eyes and click "add to cart"?
@bgardner OK then. I've been using Linux since it came on floppies, I've also built hundreds of pcs. I'm in my 50s too. You aren't talking to some RGB poisoned YouTube influencer.
You will not achieve what you want to achieve (avoiding wasting money on a not upgradable pc) by using any system integrator.

@bgardner Again, since you're unwilling to even hear me, no matter what you want to buy go to pcpartpicker and CHECK THE PARTS PRICING. CHECK THE PARTS COMPATIBILITY.
Nowadays, laptops make really nice desktops in a pinch. This was not always the case.
A "fully armed and operational battle station" is always preferable, but it's nice to just sit on the kitchen table with a 17" laptop and get work done as well. ;)
@RL_Dane true. And many love their laptops. Like distros, we each have our preferences. I know that ever since I got my #Thelio, I am just happier at my desk with my desktop. Thank you :system76:
All this being said, I fully realize mine is an n of 1 and love how everyone has their own thing.
I discovered last night that my Darter Pro 6 #system76 laptop can actually be powered from a USB C PD power adapter via the USB C port. Even though their use of a standard barrel jack power socket and 19V adapter is pretty standard and available, USB C PD is becoming more common. Great work, System 76!
@PaulWay I just wish they would document it as such on the product's page. They added PD charging to the Pangolin refresh but didn't list it in features, it took my complaining about the lack of said feature to get a correction.
The same thing can be said about USB-c ports as they don't advertise the specs of that port.
@major well their choices of components tend toward the high end compared to more commodity hardware. Whether or not that is of value to you is another thing. That plus the lower volume of sales is a fair bit of the price differences.
