If you write “Haiku OS” on the official forums you’ll quickly be reminded “the name is just Haiku”. But it’s hosted on haiku-os.org presumably because it was available.
In the same way if I search for #Haiku hashtag I get a mix of poetry and computing posts so it does make more sense to use #HaikuOS which avoids confusion.
So I got my dedicated :haiku: #Haiku second hand Laptop . The ThinkPad T61 seems to work beautifully. WiFi, Trackpad pretty much everything. For about a hundred dollars it’s a nice little machine.
The keyboard is really pleasant. It loots its little iconic red appendice in the center so I ordered a few. And the battery is dead as promised so I am ordering one.
Never had a ThinkPad before but I appreciate I can get parts even 17-18 years after the machine release.
@akosma as in installing (rather simple) or what to use ? I don’t know of any recent guide except the ones on haiku-os.org of course. There’s an IRC channel. Just launch Vision which should come preinstalled with the proper server & channel.
On an old machine beware of all the QT ports. It’s nice to have them but you’ll notice the speed difference. I really did on a Core 2 Duo here.
It's the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and I'm ringing in summer the traditional way: holed up in my basement home office, reacquainting myself with Qemu by creating a bunch of virtual machines.
SLOW RENGA Respond with #haiku using the suggested first lines & start each haiku with the same first lines below: DISSONANCE… or LISTENING TO RAIN… Post haiku in comments, enjoy mulling over the first line and considering your options at different points during your day. Look forward to reading your haiku and seeing where these lines take you. #Writing#poetry#creativity#wellbeing#write#writingcommunity#amwriting#poem#writer
