after St. Louis police unions instructed officers to publicly display The Punisher’s insignia (the mark of a lawless, fascist murderer) the comic book community was quick to point out the stupidity, and the frankly horrifying message sent by supposed peace officers endorsing a maniac. So it’s a good thing The Punisher...
I wrote a 13 minute poetic myth in a polysynthetic logosyllabic language I constructed to have a 24edo compositional orthography where each syllable has a 1 measure melody which is transposed up and down to indicate its grammatical usage. It also has phonetic, glyphic, and postural orthographies....
Just played a game of the original Arkham Horror boardgame from 1987. The game started off by giving us 3 gates to deal with. Finished with the doom track one away from “The end of Arkham”. Only one Investigator died and needed to be replaced. Introduced 2 new people to this game (both had played more recent versions).
Tell me what is the most recent game that you played that could be considered obscure to the average person. For me it would have to be cdda/cataclysm:Dark Days Ahead. This screenshot was made by me if you’re wondering.
Although most people don't associate oral disease with serious health problems, increasing evidence shows that oral bacteria play a significant role in systemic diseases like colon cancer and heart disease. Now, new research shows a link between periodontal (gum) disease and the formation of amyloid plaque, a hallmark of...
I'm currently of the opinion that most of the seemingly unrelated health correlations with dental health have more to do with income and just generally taking care of yourself on a daily basis.
That is, if you have money to pay the dentist, and you're also keeping up with brushing and flossing every day, you probably also can afford other healthcare, and tend to make other health conscious choices.
That said, the bacterial angle in this article is food for thought as well!
No, I definitely have, and have written a good bit about and with AI. I just interviewed a someone who works in AI for medicine last week for my podcast.
Any tools can be used in fucked up ways, but that doesn't mean that they have literally no positive uses either.
Think about things from the point of view of someone who has never used Reddit or the fediverse, but you've heard about them both from recent news articles and want to see what they are about....

I interviewed the designer of a ritual-game called The Tower for my podcast. Anyone else experiment with games as rituals?
It seems that games as rituals, and games specifically designed for occult purposes are an underutilized approach!...

Guy Banned by Midjourney for Generating Images of Politicians Cheating (futurism.com)
Someone used Midjourney to AI-generate images of politicians cheating on their spouses — though claims that it was well-intentioned.
YSK that Kbin can subscribe not only to magazines and communities, but entire instances.
This may be useful for folks looking to expand their feed. I discovered this on accident and it completely revolutionized my experience on Kbin....
