you know, i really want to like . i really do. in fact, it's the only group orient IM i use. but it's lack of decent mod tools is pathetic.

communities are being harassed with and and they can't do anything about it. i'm actually ashamed that i recommend it to people.

this isn't new, and they've lost huge communities to it. i'm actually fucking pissed. this should be number one priority, no excuses.

i understand that @josh takes it seriously, so that gives me some hope.

is there a roadmap of planned features relevant to this that users can follow? i'd be keen on seeing whats steps you're planning on taking

most of my career i've been a software developer (web), but i'm pivoting to ops. i know linux pretty well, i'm about a year into learning kubernetes, and i've got some network admin skills. i have done some cloud stuff but generally prefer FOSS

lol linkedin is a cesspit in 15 minutes i had to refute three misleading headlines:

  • that tooth brush ddos thing
  • that rpi bitlocker thing
  • a headline claiming deepfakes will "kill all mfa" then citing research on strictly facial recognition based mfa

of course all of them were loaded with "insightful" reactions and comments praising the authors

A rule that I’ve set for myself on Mastodon is that I block any stranger the very first time they misinterpret something I’ve said or attribute beliefs to me that I don’t possess. Life’s too short to deal with that nonsense.

Is it really possible to move a whole @matrix space into a new server? It's not clear even in this document: https://www2.matrix.org/docs/communities/switching-providers/#picking-a-new-provider

@ayo @matrix spaces are rooms, which don't exist on a given server. those aliases are just useful for discovery and UX

if u want an alias on another homeserver, you must give a user on that homeserver privileges and they can do it from there

@ayo Yes, kind of. If you want to add an alias or replace the primary one, you need an account on example.org with appropriate powerlevel in the room(s) you want to change. They can add an alias and make it primary from that homeserver.

We asked our CEO cat Pippin if he had any words or thoughts for the end of 2023. He told us that there are only two times that matter, now and dinner time, and even then they only matter if they are the same time (which they should be). There is no such thing as 2023 and there never was, that’s just something made up by humans.

I don't use Matrix as much as I'd like to (social anxiety, most friends using Discord, etc) but I've been looking at Fractal again lately via gnome-nightly. Fractal 5 is looking really good

Misskey is a Firefish branch. It's what most of the Fedi looks like in Japan.

So it is just another platform that uses activitypub and is part of the Fediverse.

It is where many JP artists have gone now that Twitter has become so toxic and anti-small creator.

Unfortunately, many instances block Misskey.io and Misskey.soc
