Looking for a backup solution for both Windows and Linux targets (about 20/80% respectively). We're building a new backup server (Currently using BackupPC), and figured this was a good time to start researching other options.
I'd prefer a solution that's on-prem (e.g.no cloud solutions).
To the Linux experts:
I have a 12-year-old laptop from Acer. It got 8GB of RAM and a Intel i5 processor. I want to use it for work. It should be able to run VS Code, a browser and maybe VirtualBox. Currently, I installed Ubuntu Server, and it works pretty good (even VMs). But I'm planning to get a new monitor and use it with a Desktop OS. The OS should also not look bad, and it should run fluent 75% of the time. Any distro recommendations? I have some experience with Linux.

Tengo un viejo Asus Eee PC de 32 bit con un #Linux Mint, ya no me funciona bien (dejó de conectarse a wifis) y, por lo que veo, el Linux Mint de 32 bit ya no se puede descargar.
Estoy pensando en instalar otro sistema operativo, pero no hay mucho donde elegir para 32 bis. Me estoy inclinando por el Q4OS para 32 bit ¿Alguien tiene alguna experiencia?
He de explicar que siempre me gustó grabar, si bien de pequeño nuestro abuelo nos enseño lo justo para poder tocar una guitarra o un teclado, en la adolescencia me obsesioné con el sonido, la alta fidelidad y los sistema de grabación, recorrí la provincia grabando maquetas con mi 4 pistas a cassette, estudié, trabajé en algún estudio y ahora de mayor me pasé al #softwareLibre y grabo en #linux con #ardour, Calf y Carla principalmente.

are there any tiling window managers that let me set pane default position instead of auto-assigning, so that I can have consistent positions for panes that I set and the rest be auto?
I currently do this in the most excruciating way possible in KDE because all the others seem to prefer random and just arranging them once they're up if at all
But consistent positions is important for me for ergonomics, with a 27"+ 4k monitor at 100% scale.

One problem I dislike in Arch is
that it breaks something so god damn often for me. I also begin to like Void for other reasons, but stability is also really important to me.
Does anyone here run a system with a Window Manager but no desktop environment? I'm toying with the idea of installing Alpine with the X window manager or something. (On a secondary device that I intend to use mostly for distraction- free writing, so I do still need LibreOffice and maybe a lightweight browser)
