#devRant has vanished from app stores. Now I wonder how new people will ever make it to the community of funny and loud nerds like this one. The way I discovered it is by searching #DevHumor in Google Images and clicking on the one joke I liked. Despite being website second and mobile first, devRant has found its way to my desktop bookmarks, I quickly became a user just to throw a few snarky jokes back and take part in some interesting discussions. There are lots of #TIL moments to have, too.

Few telling signs show that dR does not feel well: subscriptions stopped functioning and now app is nowhere to be found on Play Store. There are simply periods when servers refuse to accept some LTE connections, which is strange for mobile first platform. Now users will have to resort to third-party app, like #skyRant, to access the platform at finger tips.

This situation got me musing again about an app that could interact with devRant and Fediverse, optionally archiving stuff on the latter.

deserves a set of more performant and native applications than being attributed to a page in 's playbook. Stay with me: are we really just going to blindly accept flaws of this messenger and promote it at the same time?

The fact that it only has got to the head of Discord it's long overdue to verify this popular distribution, I think, is worth a comment on itself, but I'll digress. It is nice that enthusiasts made arrangements for this verification and I have zero disagreements with the result. I'm just stupified that, in all this effort, Discord is treated like some spoon-fed royal baby - at least, according to reactions I see.

So, what was it... Flathub already had a library of nice actively developed before these news. I don't see the point in exaggerating the scales on some centralized chat thingabob with well-known and problems, that's all. Thank you for visiting my talk! ❤

TechHub.social shows another cute mastodon on the bottom left corner of the advanced web interface. A nice little detail for the update. It seems like this one has two server decks instead of monitors. Let's hope this creature doesn't fall on those! 😅 But I think you need to include those who don't use an advanced web interface for this experience as well! 😁

Oooh, #GraphiteEditor has the node graph functionality, which allows you to compose vector objects from the primitives like fill, stroke, transform and live filters in a visual manner!

Node graph interface and filters both give me this nice break-out I needed after LPEs in #Inkscape. Don't get me wrong: that program is THE legend, developers are masters of vectors, and it's purely native Gtk toolkit on which application is built. Right now, their priority is CMYK support, so follow if you're into printing.

I just love to experiment with shiny new software that's #OpenSource, especially one that uses #RustLang and #web to its advantage.

Watch 'em apply circular repeat filter on a mere line to produce this fun sparkle effect. (It is Graphite's official channel, by the way. Wish they were on Mastodon?)

Community Forums were made read-only by a new owner.

At May this year, the previous owner of GCF @TwistedTwigleg has burnt out and tranferred the ownership of forum to @cybereality. Andres was granted all the permissions needed due to his enthusiasm. In the middle of this week, zie suddenly created an exhaustive post accusing to be a scam.

Now, I'm not going to peel the layers of threads and subthreads of this incident for you, so better read for yourself.

I'm still not out of the rabbit hole of searching for an software. 🐰

I'm gonna give a second try to @zettlr tomorrow! Their docs are surprisingly user-friendly and they claim to stick to the pure where probable. It's all the while being nice to researchers with citing, inline usage of , , and pop-over . Provision of the simple export and customization are welcome, too!

But, to be fair, I may be overexaggerating how good is because of my recent disgust with . In fact, almost anything that closely follows the common spec and is might suffice already. Having something as advanced and closer to the roots is certainly refreshing!

Can anyone please suggest a instance to host Creative Freedom Summit on? That would suck if they had to resort to YouTube streaming only so late, right??? 😳 I mean, expectations up to this point were that they'd use for hosting it, no cutting corners. But the test session revealed that https://peertube.linuxrocks.online server has trouble generating livestream metadata, so...

Only if had some sort of future matchmaking, it would throw on its ribs. Potential players could flood in at the appointed times, do raids and generally have fun without overbearing deserted atmosphere.

No, I want this feature RIGHT IN THE GAME, not some cesspool of a Discord server filled with "events". An ability to book your gaming spot on servers and times of choice.

Privacy footprint is small if you don't shove your entire schedule into the thing, so I don't see trouble on that end. Only technicalities and instance that would book the spots or others servers will need to have some tiny bits implemented. A matter of updating and opting in to future matchmaking. I'm definitely not asking all servers suddenly have this by default, just those that allow such batches of players.

Anyone got running on ?

I tried both from Fedora Flatpaks and Flathub, one at a time. I planted game files in user directory, as suggested by some video guide. I made a shortcut to Undertale Yellow.exe and have run it. Task manager shows that and game executable are running, only to disappear in another second. Game never opens.

While is mentioning among the supported chat networks, I don't see it on their "Main Chat App" page that appears after you save recovery code. I don't feel very secure trusting any of the other networks to act as sort of a entry gate, except maybe Signal.

What does picking main chat app even entail, I wonder? 🤔

Multiple scenes that inhabit the trailer of were seemingly made with the game engine. But I overestimated the smoothiness of how camera will move in the game itself, @leroy - at least in the first cutscenes.

Maybe I'm so used to ease-in-and-out timing of things, that I'm weirded out by anything remotely static: same speed, same angle and straight line movement. It just feels robotic. Would be kinda cool to see streets of Prague with camera that uses natural acceleration and slight change in angle. What I mean is gently starting to move it, as it prepares the player, accelerate a bit and stop gently - both position and angle could benefit from this technique, I think.

No objections about letter opening, though. This one was well made!

TIL the phrase "cookie licking" from !

What it boils down to is having assigned yourself an ownership of the task way forward, resulting in a figurative cookie being licked. Of course, now nobody wants to touch this task/cookie with a 10 m foot pole, because any more collaboration from other parties is essentially obstructed.

I am guilty of trapping myself in a few such situations: job, making and stopping on 90% for a new logo for , etc. I wanna learn from these mistakes and give as less cues of ownership as possible. There really isn't much to do to be excellent to each other, unlike to be some hotshot contributor. But as sayings go: the genius is in simple, and one should find beauty in simple.

Was working today on kind of an entry piece for Community Design Team: a logo and new mascot for (special type of container).

His name is Bootseef and he's ready to fly through updates! 🚀🚀 Thanks to Madeline Peck and Design Team for the sketches, sources and color choices that inspired me. 👋 I enjoyed doing this particular mascot the most.
