Here’s another find from the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show 2024. It’s called pinolite from Austria, and contains dolomite, graphite, and magnesite. I’d never seen it before and thought it was beautiful. More from www.mindat.org/min-26694.html

Unless something doesn’t go quite right, I’ve been instructed that go to ER. I’m to tell them I have severe pain. My surgeon is on call today and tomorrow. He will do an official consult with ER to admit me tonight. Then surgery in the morning.

All this, because the hospital is so busy I’d have to wait a whole MONTH to be scheduled for an ASAP surgery. So I will update here later tonight hopefully from a ward. Lucky I have a surgeon who figured out what to do.

Praise the lord in a secular humanist sort of way, my surgeon confirms gall bladder is not working. I will get a call today or tomorrow on the date. He's making it an ASAP or STAT request to schedule within a week.

Here is my favorite find from Tucson collected just off the Catalina Highway below the eastern front of the Santa Catalina Mt.s, a metamorphic core complex. Sparklies are large clusters of biotite. Also contains feldspar and quartz. Anyone familiar with these rocks? Pardon my poor photography. #geology

Curious and apprehensive personal information this morning: Got a call from a GI staff,not the GI doctor) to give me a message:
“The Hida scan did show your gall bladder is not working well. Make appointment to see the surgeon”.

I bet that doctor may be regretting how he treated me and that I was right all along.

So I asked Friday - what is your backup policy and there isn't one. So today I rigged up pg_dump to an external hard drive until I can talk to the elusive IT staff that this guy has alienated. Every night at 9:00 PM it dumps a file out to a hard drive. Everyday at 5PM OGR runs an export to the State Of TN's 911 folk. ALL FROM A LAPTOP.

These outcrops of flaggy Moine metasediments at Suidhe near Bunessan were allegedly quarried to restore Iona Abbey in the C19th. Spud has found a big stick and does not care about rocks today.

So a little complication now. My BP spiked due to pain and I started to faint. But I was already lying in bed. So I got terrible headache and dizzy. And now I’m in Neurology unit. CAT scan done, next is MRI. Really weak. They think maybe slight droop on my mouth. So. Rats.

Well. Nothing happening. Now they are looking at my heart. The pain has made my blood pressure go crazy. The surgeon never came. No changes till Surgeon comes So nothing by mouth. Pain med now Percocet. Still possible gall bladder issue but they are needing to rule out other things. Apparently they think my gall bladder is slow but working. I am still in pain and very demoralized.

In ER. GI doctor office said come in due to my pain worse by a lot in my upper abdomen and my inflamed esophagus found on endoscopy last week. I’m so tired literally of pain. Hoping at least strong meds. Have my son John with me so they will not blow me off. But nice Wi-Fi so there’s that.

On the way from lobby to surgery checkin for endoscopy. What fun! Really hoping discovery made why I’ve had significant upper abdominal pain since July. Nothing found since ER visits, doctor appointments and assorted imaging. One the bright side, our Cassiopeia bush finally bloomed after 19 months waiting. It was a 12” “weed” I saved from destruction on moving here in 2022. Yay!
