Alright, I’m gonna dip my toe into the #GraphQL discourse.

Firstly, everything the article being passed around says is true. GQL has a LOT of problems, it’s a massive footgun.

But here’s the thing, that doesn’t matter.

React is a huge footgun. PHP is a huge footgun. Every super popular dev tool has problems, because thats what happens when you abstract complex things. GQL is popular because it removed the cognitive load of HTTP.

This is labor arbitrage.

Went out to the kitchen to get lunch and discovered that every item I had purchased for my afternoon meals had been eaten, either whole or in part, by my father in law. I couldn't even make a hot dog because he ate all the buns (but not the dogs!)

This fortress that I'm playing is in a save I had abandoned because the trader caravan got bugged. If you can't trade, you can't increase your wealth, and you stop getting new migrants.

I retired and unretired the fort, which reset the caravans. This is the first one to show up in about ten years. They have no idea what's about to happen.
