Ah the good ol’ conservative mantra. Cut spending to programs that work. Claim government doesn’t work. Cut spending even more, turn program useless, point at it as an example that government doesn’t work. Blame Government for useless program, push to “privatize” it - moving the goalposts every time people mention that you’re trying to destroy a system that worked…

The difference being – Biden voters are mostly voting for him because the alternative is Trump. The same reason everyone voted for Trump: Because Trump wasn’t Hillary.

Republicans keep pushing this anti-abortion stance, and they’re gonna lose a lot of women voters as well. We’re seeing the death-throes of a dying ideology. All because they’re mad a black man became president in the first place.

Trump doesn’t end up winning in this next election cycle; I live in a deeeeeeep red area that was once blue in the past – many here have become Never-Trumpers, despite being hardcore repubs. He’s gonna lose again, and everyone will remember that there are good reasons that we don’t run losers in the presidential race a second time…

    Out of all the advertising they could do, at least this is somewhat unobtrusive. If they had this instead of preroll ads, I’d actually be okay with it.

    Some way of globally capturing hotkeys, for things like starting stream, media hotkeys, etc. Only passing key events to the foreground window is shortsighted, but we need a secure way of doing this.

    I do this, legitimately – but with a very specific application: Firefox. On Windows, I can get firefox top border to a VERY small amount. But for some reason, in the past – every Linux distro I found, when Firefox is maximized, I still get an additional window decoration on the top, above the browser tabs. My Firefox bar on Windows only takes up 64 pixels of height.

    I mean, at least I CAN fix this stuff in Linux. Plenty of instances like this in Windows where I’d just be stuck. I really need the FreeCAD team to get their shit together before I can truly swap over.

    Reddit started off with fake engagement in order to grow the site, so I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if more than half of the site was engagement bots running around. They likely have an entire suite of tools for such a thing.

    Our supreme court is packed with corporate lackeys. As much as I love this, it’ll be overturned. It is a move in the right direction - you should not be allowed to take away someone’s right to move jobs.

    It’s because many privacy enthusiasts are or have also been in network infrastructure, and realize the measures that must be taken on a hostile network which literally defines the internet.

    I told you what to do. Rent a VPS, and set your own VPN up. Nothing is stopping you from doing this the right way.

    VPS typically have shared IPs. You’re paying extra for a dedicated IPv4.
