We know it fits, just not in the way I’d like so other things can go in the space.

Anyway, we managed a small adventure to the local Asda. We’ve not been there before. We may well go again.

The problem is getting Best Beloved in and out of the house. We have two shallow steps at the front door, but his knees tend not to accept bending and lifting.

I’ll call the social services and see what they think might work.

Today is the official start of the Northern Hemisphere's meteorological summer.

The thing I love most about summer is you can throw windows open wide on a warm sunny day and be regaled by the sound of umpteen lawnmowers, strimmers and hedge trimmers.

(I've posted this before, but still worth clarifying: for those unfamiliar with shipyard slang, 'black trade' means the people who do the dirty jobs, welders and riveters and pipefitters etc - as opposed to the clean workers like draughtsmen and joiners.)

An adventure!

A call from the GP concerned at Best Beloved's blood sugar level. Back on some meds.

Then he calls again to say Best Beloved needs vitamin D which will be sent asap.

Then the nurse rings with the same info. And rings a second time to ask us to get to the surgery as quickly as we can.

So, Operation Best Beloved To The Car went into action.

And we did it without incident. Not sure what it was all about, but things are being sorted out.

In other news, I had a call from a government department. I’d begun an application process for a benefit but then changed my mind.

They were confused because I wasn’t filling in the forms with the data they wanted. I explained it was an awkward time, I couldn’t supply the data, and I wanted to withdraw my application.

I think the message got through.
