Having to mass delete my instagram posts after all these years is pretty depressing. It was my main page, feels kinda like the end now. Glad I have a website

@simonharper Meta are opting everyone into feeding their Generative Ai machines at the end of June and you can't opt out. All your photos, sentences, videos all gets taken by them, So I'm trimming down my Instagram page to have the bare minimum scraped by them

@simonharper Yes I have opted out cause I'm in the UK however their confirmation stipulates that any 'Future Posts' won't be used. That excludes all previous posts. So whether its posts prior to the end of June or when the email was sent I don't know. Just seems a better option to give them less. If it doesn't have any effect at least I tried and I don't really lose anything that people can't visit my website to look at if need be.

@simonharper Go to settings and activity and about then privacy policy its in there. I specified in the email that I don't want them to use any pst present or future posts text or videos they should honour what I requested

@simonharper Yes but not in this way, not using your voice, you face, your written words, art, music, poetry and amalgamating it to create and use things against your will. Scarlet Johannson is suing that tech bro who stole her voice, there's a real threat with Ai.

@simonharper Yeah what concerns me is if you have a loved one that's passed on and they scrape that in some generate ai garbage advert and you hear your friends voice or see their face its pretty fucked up.

@simonharper I know. I have these concerns cause a friend of mine died last year and his insta is still active even though I've reported it so it would be upsetting if he just randomly appeared in a photo somewhere

@gary_bbgames No I've never sold prints of my work that size and nearly all my shots are landscape. I don't know who did that but that looks like an expensive Michael Myers figure
