I'm like a collector of hobbies. Video games, tabletop games, books (mainly fantasy but sometimes scifi and romance), gamedev, 3D art, pixel-art, development in general, knitting, crochet, electronics/logic circuits. I could probably go on.

Chronic not-finisher of projects.

Autistic and don't know how to socialize or make friends, send halp?

Probably ADHD but can't get diagnosis because very long time dysthymia. And apparently/probably sleep apnea.

If I forget to CW something or doesn't realize something should be CW:ed I'd be happy if you let me know! Or if I said something insulting/inappropriate/etcetc, see above about autism. I would very much appreciate being informed, if you have the time and energy of course.

rebeccasaurus, to fediverse

What are the odds there’s someone with some knowledge of *Key away and aware right now?

My problem, images I’ve uploaded don’t load. So right now, one of my test uploads is this: https://theshark-smellslike.sparklef.art/shonk.se-sto-1.linodeobjects.com/sharkey/b8c8a267-3798-4294-8aeb-7d19e52fbf99.webp That’s the URL the pages tries to GET. It doesn’t work. If you copy the everything after “.art/“ and paste that in the browser, the image is clear as day.. (I’ve manually set it’s access to public to test)

What/where is this going wrong?!

General Docker question (I think), if I update a .config/default.yml and restart the containers, is that going to catch that or do I have to do some magic for that?

EDIT: outside the container, I think it was used to.. build it? Start it? I dunno, never touched Docker before today..

rebeccasaurus,

@mforester I don’t know enough about Docker to quite grasp what to do to follow your advice :neocat_laugh_tears_256: Close though! Perhaps if I look at it in the morning it’ll make more sense. Thanks! :3

rebeccasaurus,

@mforester aah okay, that makes sense. Thank you so much for taking the time to explaining things! I had really hoped I could get away with just running the commands in the app’s docs and it would just work, but no, of course not :P

Anyway, if you don’t mind helping just a little bit more (ok if not, obviously!), could you confirm this does what I think it does:

COPY --link . ./

It’s from the project’s Dockerfile, and according to the docs for this app you should run docker while inside the folder with the previously mentioned .config-folder. So does that mean that it created a link from within the Docker-thingies to the files I’ve changed on the “outside”?

rebeccasaurus,

@mforester and look at that, in the docker-compose.yml:

    volumes:
      - ./files:/sharkey/files
      - ./.config:/sharkey/.config:ro

If I understood volumes correctly (from the Docker crash course videos I found), this does what I thought it does and links from the “inside” to the file/directory I was interested in! :3

rebeccasaurus,

@mforester hmm.. Well, it is also referenced in the docker-compose-file as a volume, and I’ve updated file upload size in there and it seems to have worked? (Couldn’t upload files ~20MiB before, but now I can, just as an example.)

I think the error I was looking for wasn’t in the docker-thingies, or at least not all of the problems xD

Thank you again for all the help! :3 Let me at least exclude one part of the setup, or possibly fix one part it, actually not 100% sure :P

Ok, more problems! :neocat_cry_256:

Does anyone know why I can upload files fine in Sharkey, I can see in the bucket they appear and through its interface I can download and look at them, all works well. But Sharkey itself can’t load the images! They show up as very blurry things, with correct:ish colors, somehow, but with “This image cannot be loaded” errors..

Any ideas?

Oooh.. Me thinks part of the coming tax returns will need to go to a proper air filtering thingymajig! Can’t wait!

rebeccasaurus, to NixOS

So.. Automatic system updates for NixOS, thoughts? It feels very.. Microsofty to me, but it’s pretty front and center in the docs, so I assume people are actually using the feature? And I suppose it’s not exactly tricky roll back to before the update if something happens, so maybe not a terrible idea?

rebeccasaurus,

@AngryAnt huh, interesting! And yeah, I stick to stable too. Currently only has it installed on my work computer which needs to be, well, stable.

rebeccasaurus,

@AngryAnt hmm.. Does running upgrades in boot mode make it so the gc doesn’t delete the last working generation? Feels dangerous autorunning that one :P

rebeccasaurus,

@AngryAnt aah, didn’t know you could specify keeping some stuff like that. Thanks for the tips! :3
