Well it's been just over a week since I put my little album on bandcamp and it's fair to say interest has plateaued somewhat.

However, the graph of the playcount over time looks a little like batman peeping over something so that's nice.

A friend who lives in the sticks sent me these last night around 11pm, I rushed outside just in case but sadly Birmingham city centre is not the spot to observe solar storms.

@mxtthxw if it continues tonight there's an outside possibility I could find somewhere with fewer streetlights within walking distance, and maybe past midnight more lights generally will be switched off, but I'm not that hopeful.

This was the one weekend I'd specifically planned to have early nights too.

Does anyone else here use as their main mastodon accessing thing on their phone?

When I'm catching up on the overnight it seems to skip hours at a time which gets to be annoying.

I end up filling in the gaps on the default Mastodon app which I'm less keen on because of the jiggling "new post" marker that is constantly, and redundantly, at the top.

I follow some accounts that post every few minutes, like the Radio Free Fedi "now playing bot" : @rff

so gaps stick out like a sore thumb for me

As it happens the association with Shogun Assassin really sprang to mind when the track was nearly done which isn't to say there isn't a samurai movie playing in the back of my mind most of the time.

I've put a bunch of the tunes I've made over the past couple of years on Bandcamp as two long tracks.

This isn't the kind of you get by using loads of plugins, it's the kind you get by not really knowing what you are doing.

If you're a regular listener to you may know some of the tracks on bedsit lofi diy already but may not have realised they were by the same person. Or it might be really obvious, I have no idea.

I had to ditch a track at the last minute to fit the upload requirements but splitting it into two "sides" actually suits the overall aesthetic.

    @flockofnazguls this is a terrific book. it's scary to think how much it affected my music listening and making.

    I've read a few other books about different aspects of music since but nothing has come close.

    I'm plodding through Nietzsche's Also Sprach Zarathustra in one or two page chunks at bedtime and I'm honestly not getting the sense he was a great writer.

    The way it reads I can see how people could tie him in with Ayn Rand and Hitler, and I'm wondering if the writers I've read who have good things to say about his work have been filtering it through their own lenses to an extreme degree.

    Maybe I should read Twilight of the Idols instead?

    Or go back to RAW's Cosmic Trigger which is fun?

    Well I posted about Radio Free Fedi on Reddit last night on the the u/WeAreTheMusicMakers sub reddit and woke up this morning to a seven day ban for breaking the rule about promoting streaming services.

    My bad, I guess rules are rules but this does not spark joy.

    I should add, it's got a broad selection of bitters, a suitably aloof pub cat and the only tv screens are the ones listing what beers are on at what pump.

    One sunday evening a month they have a cheese night with interesting and unusual cheeses.

    The Teenage Engineering KO 2 that I was so gutted I didn't order in time is available now and I don't want it anymore.

    It's not that my opinion of it has changed, my assessment of my desires has.
