I got suspended once because someone “punched” me as a joke. By the letter of the regulation it counted as a fist fight even though (a) we weren’t fighting and (b) I didn’t do the punching. Good times.

It’s an album, but: The Fabulous Steel Guitar Sound of Pete Drake. It’s instrumental, upbeat, and just the right amount of interesting to just jam out to and get 'er done.

Armored Core 6. Missions are pretty short, attempts on them can be abandoned without losing anything but your progress in that attempt, and there is absolutely no slack time–start to end it’s densely packed with new content.

My car gets about 250 miles on a charge, so I’m only ever at a public charger if I’m taking a trip longer than that. At that point my day is pretty much fucked by traveling, and it’s actually really nice get off the road for an hour. Usually I find a nearby coffee shop and work on the same stuff I would at home, and when I get back on the road I can feel that I’m alert and focused.

Board state in marketing photos cracks me up. Who needs corners? What is a big move? Attachment fights only pls

I’ve been migrating one of my company’s apps from microservices back to monolithic Java. It’s wonderful. I haven’t touched a line of yaml in weeks.

It’s never a good look when the story changes this much. Something’s definitely being covered up.

It looks like you’ve marked your account as a bot account. Bot accounts aren’t allowed to vote to help combat vote manipulation–unflagging it as a bot should solve the problem.

I’ll save you the watch, it’s a 20 minute Balatro ad with some pedestrian commentary on what makes games fun sprinkled in.

This little bronze orc:

It was a gift from my father, who in turn received it from its sculptor, Sterling Lanier. Lanier was a family friend and an editor at Chilton Books, where he insisted that a book he had read in Analog Magazine be published despite it having been turned down by a score of other publishing companies. The book was initially such a commercial failure that Lanier was ousted from Chilton–a grievous injustice, as the book in question is Frank Herbert’s Dune.

Because cross-platform apps inevitably feel out of step with the OS they run on. Native apps can use system components and behaviors and will almost always run better because they don’t need to be wrapped in a cross-platform framework. Admittedly a platform-locked app isn’t going to be a universally perfect Lemmy app, but it can certainly be a platform-specific perfect Lemmy app.

With no disrespect to Voyager, its devs, or its users, this is why I can’t use that app despite its impressive feature set and high level of polish–the ui feels fundamentally wrong on iOS, and the fact that it’s a very direct Apollo clone but not written in native swift makes it feel like a knockoff.

Agreed–if I put up a poster on a billboard, I’m not really in a position to complain if someone takes a picture of it.

Mlem, Voyager, and Boost all offer keyword filtering to my knowledge

Is this a common problem? I’ve almost never had a burrito fall apart on me unless it outright rips–I once made the mistake of ordering a burrito in Scotland, and that was pretty formless, but it was also less a burrito and more an embarrassment hiding under an ill-fitting tortilla.

Per Wolfram Alpha, sulfur is 4.62 times heavier; the earth is 0.002% lithium, so it would experience a net gain of 3.62 * mass of earth * 0.00002, or 4.3e20kg. That’s 7.24e-5 times heavier, so not much in the grand scheme of things.

Note that I’m neither a chemist, a physicist, or an astronomer, so I make no guarantee that I did this right.

Edit: misplaced decimal

What do you think is worse for baseball? Owners who spend much more than league average or owners who don't spend any money?

With the recent spending by the Dodgers and last year the Mets and Padres, it got me thinking. What’s worse for baseball? Owners who spend much more or owners who don’t spend even though they’re in the window like the Orioles and Mariners?

Worse for baseball: underspending. Eternally cheap, bad teams can turn whole swathes of potential fans and players off the game.

Overspending is definitely frustrating to watch from the fan base of a team that could, but won’t, spend, but putting more money into the sport isn’t worse for it than fielding farcical loss machines.

Locking myself out of the Ghost achievement in Dishonored, I might have made the game more enjoyable to me by accident

I’ve played the game around seven years ago for the first time on my laptop and enjoyed my time a lot. Back when I got my first PS4 around a year later (2017ish), I got the game on there too but ended up not playing the game at all because I couldn’t get used to the controller gameplay....

I really appreciate how FromSoft does achievements–theirs are the only games I ever really go for the 100%, since that usually entails simply playing and mastering all the content that they have prepared. Achievements like “beat the whole game under x arbitrary condition” or “get this super specific scenario to happen” just aren’t that interesting to me, but “beat every boss, collect every important item, visit every area” I find very satisfying.

I read that one, he literally described himself as mediocre programmer and is excited about gpt as a way for mediocre programmers to be competitive again. I’m sure he’s in for a really fun time when he has to find a bug in 12k lines of AI spaghetti he bolted together.

I’m actually pretty happy with this trade. Three pitching prospects isn’t the flashy-splashy sort of headline we’re thirsty for, but it suggests that Breslow is looking to build long-term pitching depth rather than spend together a fleeting juggernaut. Plus, not signing a big name in return for Dugie frees up $9mil that can theoretically be put towards the pipe dream player of your choice.

Finally got around to starting Sekiro a month ago and 100+ hours and five runs later I’m wondering why I waited so long
