Many thanks to @Defolos: He explains some of the #history behind the #project, how the different variants differ from each other, how Tumbleweed's stability is ensured and what the gecko is all about.

Join us tomorrow for the kickoff of the Creative Freedom Summit! Your hosts, the Fedora Design Team, are very excited for all the great discussions we will have about open source tools in creative spaces.

Event starts tomorrow, Jan 23, at 8:15am EST (1:15pm UTC)

Unfortunately PeerTube wasn't working out in recent tests, but we will keep Element for viewing and chat and replace PeerTube with YouTube for streaming (no live chat on YT).

I don’t know what it means that when I get the itch to go distrohopping, I just end up back in @opensuse after less than a day 😂 I should keep a drive of the tumbleweed install media sewn in the lining of my backpack.

I just finished doing my weekly syslog-ng git snapshot compiles. Google support is now available in many of my @opensuse / & @fedora / packages:

Unfortunately for now it's unavailable on , RHEL 9 and old distros.

Version 4.4.0 of was released on Monday, and I worked overtime to make sure that @opensuse, @fedora and users can install it ASAP, with all the latest features enabled. Today I left the office earlier, and had a nice walk around my favorite lake 😉

A little thread on Feilner-IT software setup... At the core of it all is @ownclouders . I use it for file sync, share and a simple backup Inside that, I run @collabora and @ONLYOFFICE .
You should test it, you won't believe how fast those two run on . I even wrote my first Linux-Mag-Article completely in the browser, with strong auth, on the way to , both from linux, chromebook or mobile clients. I dont do Windows or Apple, but it's avail. 1/

FeilnerIT,

And finally, there's my seven-screen desktop – two laptops, running @opensuse on energy-efficient yet fast hardware. Pure opensource, software like connects the devices, so that one keyboard one mouse controls all screens seamlessly, including clipboard.
(disclaimer: Only non-OSS might be hidden in Chrome or Codecs. I don't usually use proprietary, no one needs that, it's not the nineties anymore :-) )
Oh, and of course I am a proud user of @kde and @librewolf /7

kalpa, to openSUSE

If you've any interest in #openSUSE #Aeon or #Kalpa or immutable desktops in general, I highly recommend giving Richards talk at #asg2023 a watch/listen.

https://media.ccc.de/v/all-systems-go-2023-208-opensuse-aeon-desktop-linux-finally-done-right-

Kalpa is following (or at least attempting to) follow the same design principles as Aeon, And this is a touch more challenging with a Plasma Desktop, than it is with Gnome, for many reasons, and it's the reason we move a bit slower.

Just updated @opensuse. It was the biggest update since I started the #2YearLinuxChallenge. I'd also just made some changes to dbus, and those are always butt clenching.

But, rebooted just fine.

TIL that you can restore deleted projects in the #openSUSE Build Service by just creating a new project with the same name. OBS is then asking if you'd like to restore the project. Neat!
