My son got some fancy keycaps for one of his keyboards, and while I like the feel overall, I realized only after trying to use it myself that this compact layout lacks a backtick/tilde key, making it impossible to do a code span in Markdown.
@matthewcassinelli@stephenrobles Interesting - trying to add it to my Tuo button, which seemingly only lets you assign actions created in Home app. When trying to paste that Toggle Accessory State into that Home shortcut, I get this error. No loophole for me!
So I stagger sleepily into the kitchen to make breakfast, and I break an egg open, and it's a double yolk! And I'm like ha ha, rolled an S rank egg. And then I break a second egg, and it's ALSO a double yolk. And I'm like ha… ha but I'm getting a little nervous. And then I break my THIRD egg and it's ALSO a double yolk and I'm just like what the fuck?? Triple double yolk???
Apple Weather's 12-hour precipitation map takes so long to load in every time that 9/10 times I just close it and give up. Is that a universal experience? Or are Apple's local CDNs just abnormally slow here?
This progress bar either stalls or takes upwards of 30 seconds to resolve.
@GottaLaff Maybe it's the blank line that is below the “Via" statement that is causing people to skip over that? Clearly not everyone’s going to read as well, but removing that separation might help. In any case, sorry that you're having to deal with all this, and hope tomorrow's a better day.
@GottaLaff Oh, I totally understand. I just think it sometimes gets bundled visually with your name up top, rather than the text it belongs to. At least my brain sometimes skips over that part, and I have to jump up afterwards to realize “oh, it was someone else”
@gruber both? I probably switched to Alfred about 11 years ago (2.0), and Raycast a year or so ago. I can't even remember why I made the original switch at this point.
It seems likely spotlight might be an entry point into whatever AI improvements coming up. Will be interesting to see if some of these get semi-Sherlocked yet again, with a nudge to move away.

Boy would I love to know more about how Apple’s backend ordering system works. (I did get hit with this error for about a half an hour this morning — did you?)
Top Qs:
• What do they actually DO during the 12 hours the site is down?
• How do they decide how to roll out the site to various users? (I could access in Chrome while Safari was telling me “Coming Soon”)
• Is it true that all of the iPhone models are stored in the backend as iTunes Albums? (Classic joke)
You can learn interesting things about AirTags by using them in unsupported places, like on a dog's collar…
Somehow in a year of use the speaker no longer works, it doesn't trigger unknown-tracking/found notifications on other devices, and ‘precise’ directional finding doesn't work — but location updates still function as normal 👀 Turns out you don't need to hack it open and modify the firmware to make it a silent tracker?
I’m not mad at the new Apple Music Discovery station -- I'm glad it is here. But legit, isn't this a little late? Like isn't Spotify Discover like 8 years old?
I really hope Apple does a version of the Magic Keyboard with a built-in trackpad for use with visionOS, because that feels like something I would want to bring everywhere I bring the device
Debating picking up a 2019 27" iMac with a high end config at a cheap price. I kind of want to experience working with a true 2x desktop display and figure that its got at least 2 years left of OS updates. But then I look at the benchmarks vs a simple M1 mini…
@paul So it was always strange for me, when they would fire up for seemingly non-computational tasks. But I spent some time investigating, and a lot of this seems to have been caused by traffic across VPN. Which, of course, is CPU heavy. So not the fault of the iMac, but I still prefer silence 🙉
