IKEA is acutallt enjoyable on a weekday. The parking lot of ours is shared with a Lowe's and a Costco and it's so bad on a weekend.

I'm here because @cassidy has been showing all the benefits of the IKEA smart air purifiers and I need to check them out.

I’ve been playing with air quality sensors and purifiers in Home Assistant. Here’s my current layout on my dashboard; I want to improve it a bit more, but I am loving the glancable styling powered by the sensor values. :)

@cassidy what cards are you using for these displays? Do you let your purifiers run in Auto (10%) most of the time or do you have automations to change this based on AQI?

@cassidy I love this! I was thinking of running it at 100% overnight when electricity is cheap.

It doesn't seem like HA gets the speed status properly, but I might need to pull this into a helper from the attributes.

It's been interesting to see the PM2.5 levels change over time.

I recognized the mini-graph-cards haha, do you have your color-coding values handy?

@cassidy I've found the auto/10% setting to be very quiet but still running, and the PM2.5 sensor updates pretty often. Does it fully turn off when at 10%?

I was running it at 10% yesterday while we were in the room and didn't notice it at all sitting pretty close to it.

@cassidy yeah me too. I'm thinking I'll come up with a drop down helper to drive the speed, but this is something that's missing from HA. An easier way to have a front end to drive settings on an underlying device. Like presets. I've made buttons for things like the hot tub with mini chip cards, but I'd love to have a way to pop up a control panel with different buttons

We've had GE, Whirlpool, Bosch and now LG dishwashers. The GE was too old and not good at cleaning, the Bosch had an electronic glitch and died, could never fix it. The Whirlpool died two days after we got it.

The LG has been pretty good, but at 5 years old, the racks are rusting 😡 and it's apparently a common issue with LG machines from this era.

The cost of replacement racks is ridiculous, almost the same as a whole new unit.

How are Samsung dishwashers.

I have reached the stage where slim fit dress shirts are too billowy and tailored fit dress shirts hug my spare tire and belly a little too closely. There needs to be an in between for “does CrossFit but also enjoys IPAs”

I rarely make it to Ocean Beach (it's too cold 350 days of the year) but on the days where it's warm with blue skies, it's wonderful.

@skinnylatte I find Southern California beaches to be very cold for me (I grew up in southern Mexico). The NorCal beaches are even worse for me. You really have to have grown up in those cold waters and chilly days to enjoy them haha

I am trying my first "real" cheese! I've made ricotta a few times, mozzarella twice, and paneer once, but now I'm trying my hand at a more aged cheese. This is my attempt at a Bel Paese, which conveniently ripens at refrigerator temperatures (4C/42F). No need for a separate cheese fridge/cave yet!

As for this attempt, the rennet didn't set the curd as well as I was hoping, and the surface remained rough after "pressing". But we'll see in 3 weeks! Pic is from right after brining.
