Last hill for my Sardinia trip, 🌲 Monte Pino (“Pine Mountain”) IS0/IS-120, 742 m. Evening walk up to the summit lookout from the ranger station. Extreme geomagnetic storm meant it took half an hour to get the required 4 radio contacts - all groundwave I suspect.

First ever station on the summit of Punta Maggiore (IS0/IS-064) in (970m). I made 8 SSB contacts on 14MHz with my Elecraft KX2 and EFHW. Pathless scramble to the summit 🧗‍♂️🏞️ Thanks Chasers!

Last weekend I activated Semaforo IS0/IS-266 (“Traffic Light”) on the island of Sardinia. This special hill hosts the ruins of a radio laboratory used by Marconi, who was born 150 years ago.

@M5OTA I asked myself the same question the other day. It’s a bit like a spool of wire? Open to suggestions…

m1hax,
@m1hax@mastodon.radio avatar

@VE2UWY it has to be a “mountain” of which the definition changes by country. Then make 4 contacts on the amateur bands. I think the rules say exchange call signs and signal reports with each other

Hiked up 🗻 Cnoc an Daimh Mor (GM/NS-142) in northern Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to operate its first “Summits On The Air” radio station. Was one of the last unactivated summits in the UK. 17.5km of bog and peat maze. 29 hours driving to get there and back. 1 point. 💪🏻😃

Activated Moncreiffe Hill (GM/SS-276) today near Perth. An easy 1pt #SummitsOnTheAir hill with a good path to the top. Three contacts on 2m and two on 20m. #hamradio

Earlier this month I was out on a very misty 🗻 Kinder Scout (G/SP-001) helping a client prepare for their Hill & Moorland Leader assessment. The weather presented a fine opportunity to practice navigation! 🗺️🧭A quick session on my radio during lunch bagged me 8 contacts.

A beautiful ☀️ sunny day atop Bredon Hill (G/CE-003) a few days ago operating amateur radio 📻 for the scheme. We were treated to great views including a snow-capped Worcestershire Beacon in the distance. 8x stations worked in about twenty minutes.

🌄Ruardean Hill (G/WB-021) and 🌄Seager Hill (G/WB-022) are two 1-point hills I ticked off last month. 15 local contacts between the two using my FTM100D radio. There's been a lot of deforestation at Seager Hill since I visited a few years ago.

🧗🏻‍♂️ After looking at climbing anchor practice rigs sold online, I decided to make my own. Allowing for extra hardware it did work out a bit cheaper💸. Wing nuts on the back allow easy repositioning of bolts. Great for practicing anchor building and other setups in the shed!

🧵1/3: SOTA peeps you want to read this. I've found this nifty new tool for users of @ARRL Logbook of the World by Jack G5JDA and it's pretty mega..

m1hax,
@m1hax@mastodon.radio avatar

🧵2/3: The script creates an ADIF file from an activator's SOTA logbook for uploading to LOTW or use with loggers. The key thing about this tool - unlike others I have seen - is it automagically handles parsing each Maidenhead locator of the summit being activated thru to LOTW!

m1hax,
@m1hax@mastodon.radio avatar

🧵3/3: No need to create a station ID in LOTW for each summit. Within a few clicks I'd submitted thousands of SOTA summit QSOs to LOTW and QSL'd years of contacts 😍 It's in 'alpha' release but worked great for me, well worth taking a look! Get QSLing! 📬

⛰️ Hardown Hill (207 m) & ⛰️ Lewesdon Hill (279 m). Ticked off my last two #Marilyn summits in the G/SC (South Central) region this week. 26 stations worked in total, mostly with the Elecraft KX2 and EFHW. Two Finland QSOs on 10m (28MHz) band. Hardown Hill was a pleasant spot to work from! #hamr #sota

My dream would be for someone to port to a Android version the
"Fast Log Entry" software from DF3CB or the linux version FLECli from ON4KJM

@hb9hli @F4EGX_Nico Hmm, my FLE always reopens the last file which is a good aide memoir. The most difficult part of FLE is the author ignores bug reports.
