Good morning!

It's a beautiful day outside and I will be spending the morning in the hospital having medical tests. Not the way I would choose to spend my day, but there it is.

I hope you have better things planned for your day.

Good morning!

Another day, another early-morning walk, another try at getting some writing done. The sun is shining and I should be able to open all my windows this afternoon. Two of the redbud trees have started flowering. Everything feels like spring.

But it's still March. I don't trust March. I won't believe it's really spring until April. March has let me down too often.

I hope it doesn't let us down this year.

#WritersCoffeeClub Mar 13. Do # WritersCoffeeClub or # WordWeavers inspire you?

Not really. Sometimes they make me think. Mostly they're just fun.

Good morning!

This morning I got ready for my early morning walk at 34 F (1 C) wearing coat, hat, and gloves, thinking I would be fine. Then I was hit by a gust of freezing wind that almost knocked me off my feet. I turned around and went back indoors. Off with the hat, the gloves, the coat. I'm not walking in that.

Instead, I'm sitting warm indoors with coffee and word puzzles. Ah, that's better.

May you find a better way #today.

I cannot believe I spent most of the morning trying to decide what to name a fairly minor character, then another couple of hours deciding which historical figure to invoke in another minor incident, rather than getting on with the business of writing this novel.

Good morning!

The sun is out after days of cloud and rain, and I took a longer early-morning walk than usual. Now it's back to coffee and breakfast, then more writing if I can get myself motivated. If not, maybe I'll find somewhere to go on this lovely, albeit kind of cold day.

I love having the choice to do nothing.

Have a good one, friends!

Good morning!

It's a drizzly, rainy day and I skipped my early morning walk. I'm planning on staying and trying to write for the day once again, so there's not much for me to say. I'm struggling to get the words down for some reason, even though I know what I want to write. Sooner or later the dam is going to break and the flood will come.

I hope you don't need to struggle #today.

Good morning!

Today I'm going to bite the metaphorical bullet and do the taxes. There will be cursing and gnashing of teeth. I am telling myself I'll feel much better when they are done, and maybe, just maybe, it will free my mind to write again.

Wish me luck.

Good morning!

My early-morning walk was very cold today, mostly because I didn't wear the right coat for 24F (-4C). At least I had the sense to wear two pair of socks.

Now it's a day for laundry and bill-paying and thinking about what I might like to write. The book I was stuck on just isn't exciting me. There's a half-formed idea teasing me from the back of my mind, but it doesn't want to come forward just yet.

I need to relax and let my subconscious mind work on it for a while.

I hope you can relax for a while #today.

Good morning!

It's a warm but unfortunately rainy and thunderstormy day with a high wind advisory for later on. I'm making certain my devices are charged just in case the power goes out.

Today I am promising myself that I will gather all the tax documents together. I probably won't do more than that.

Instead, I'm going to read through the Gavin Rownt novel I abandoned when I got stuck and see if I can unstick myself.

Wild weather all over, so stay safe, my friends!

Good morning!

Today I'm feeling like my life is getting back to normal.

The new light has been installed in my bathroom, so I am no longer showering, etc. by (LED) candlelight. I went out for my early morning walk. In a little while I'll head out to the grocery store.

And then I'll think about what needs to be done next.

Have a good one, friends!

#WritersCoffeeClub 25: How do you feel about Amazon's influence on books and publishing?

My books are on Amazon and I would probably never have tried to self-publish without them. That said, I wish they were a more ethical company so I wouldn't have to feel guilty about using them.

Good morning!

I didn't feel like going out for my early-morning walk, but I did it because I know I'll skip walking tomorrow morning when the snow comes in. Now I'm drinking coffee and playing silly word games and contemplating what I might do today.

I'm always at bit at a loss when I'm waiting for my reader to get back to me about the book draft I sent her. I have all sorts of things I could/should be doing, but I don't feel like doing any of them.

I do want to thank all the people here for the huge number of owl photos you posted yesterday. And no, I didn't watch the game and I didn't care who won.

Have a good one!

if anything good can come out of the disaster at the #BritishLibrary, surely it’s a rethink of accepting digital “copies” as fulfilment of legal deposit. @bookstodon

Good morning!

This morning's early-morning walk was the warmest this winter, 48 F (almost 9 C). The cold returns tomorrow, but I was happy to walk without gloves or a winter hat.

Now I'm trying to psyche myself up for doing some household chores that need rather desperately to be done, and I just don't wanna do it. I will, eventually, a little bit at a time. No need to rush.

Have a good SuperB owl Sunday, if you care about such things, and have a great day anyway if you don't.

Are some genres taken more seriously than others? How does this make you feel?

Obviously, the answer is yes, some genres are taken more seriously.

One thing I loved about studying medieval literature was that the "non-serious" genres were suddenly serious and respected. There could be dragons and monsters and fairies and flying mechanical horses and OMG romance and it was all considered serious literature because it was written in Old and Middle English or even (hushed, reverent tone) Latin.

Good morning!

I got up this morning thinking I would probably skip my early morning walk because my back hurt so much. Once I was up, I changed my mind and got out at 6:45. I'm glad I did. My back still hurts, but I need my walks for my mental health more than anything. I feel much better when I walk.

So it's yet another day working on the book once I have some more coffee and make breakfast. Thumper has gone off to work and things are quiet. Life is good.

I hope life is good for you.

Today, I was quiet as a mouse. I only did yoga and tiptoed around like I was a cat burglar. If the neighbors downstairs complain, they have bionic hearing. I also learned there are an abundance of rules regarding noise. Some make sense, but there are two that are ridiculous in the wording. Between 9 pm and 8 am, there can be no "Opening or closing of drawers, closets or doors" or "Scraping of chairs on the floor." They didn't say "SLAMMING" they said "Opening and closing". I mean.....🙄

joyce,
@joyce@hcommons.social avatar

@dancinyogi

So if you need to go to work before 8 a.m., you have to open your closet and drawers the day before and eat breakfast standing up? Sheesh. I'd be happy if my upstairs neighbor didn't vacuum in the middle of the night.

Finished meeting with my financial advisor. I'm taking the big leap and will no longer receive more than a tiny pension, but instead rely on my book sales to live. Fingers crossed people keep buying the books!

There are nice ways to wake up in the middle of the night. A leg cramp so bad you shriek as you grab your muscle in agony is not one of them 😩

Oh, I hate that! Someone told me that eating more food with potassium in it helps to avoid leg cramps. Have a banana, maybe?

#WritersCoffeeClub 29: Describe the saddest moment you've written.

Maybe when Cordwainer realizes that his fantasy of recreating the nuclear family he lost when his wife died will never happen, that the woman he thought might be falling in love with him was just flirting, and that he can never recover the past.

Good morning!

It's a cold, rainy day and I skipped my early-morning walk again. One of these days I'm going to buy proper rain gear so I can walk when it's wet. I grew up in an area of the country where it almost never rained, and I've never gotten used to damp, humid, rainy days.

Indoors it's warm and cozy with hot coffee, so indoors I will stay. More revising my book manuscript. More cuddling with Annie-the-Cat. I like my routine.

May you have a cozy, pleasant day.

Good morning!

It's a day of mud and puddles out there as the snow keeps melting. I went out for my early-morning walk into mist and fog. Then back as usual to coffee and oatmeal and the beginning of my day.

Once again I'll work on revisions to my WIP and maybe some cleaning and definitely some reading and relaxing. I'm going to make yet another batch of green chili chicken enchiladas and eat leftovers over the weekend.

Have a good one!
