The back of a centaur’s head is mostly air. The long mane feathers mask the effect but the only significant organ back there is the vocal lungs, which can puff out the back of the neck even further. Centaurs visibly inhale into their neck before speaking.

The two main characters of my short story Airsled. Vrazi is holding the cord of money they used to buy Piawii's indentured labor, and Piawii is holding Vrazi's tea pipe. This design got turned into stickers and put on the back cover of the new printed edition.

Plants, and worms pretending to be plants. Plantworms thrive in wet climates with nutrient poor soil or unstable substrate because of their opportunistic carnivory and mobility. The true plants thrive in arid climates because they have root systems and anti-freezing mechanisms.

Zngti (aka hawkdogs) are an omnivorous predator that occupied a niche similar to a fox prior to domestication, and now fill a variety of roles in centaur settlements. In some ways they're more comparable to domestic cats, often left unsupervised around food storage or crops to hunt vermin, but their territoriality also makes them useful for livestock defense or sentry roles.

I drafted this for a sticker design and was worried it was a little too corny but it was extremely well received on poll, so maybe I just need to be more optimistic and cringe and free. Rosie the Riveter is a actually a great fit for Talita since she's also a lady in aerospace technology, though she's probably ripped more rivets out than put them in.

A centaur from the Shess ethnicity poses with their clan's small flock of Tep, a livestock animal that is farmed for its meat and cheese-like edible silk. Hanging off their foreshoulder and hooked to a belt on their rear waist is a 2 meter long black powder rifle, characteristic of centaur firearms developed before first contact. The shepherd keeps it with them while herding the flock to ward off wildlife that competes with or likes to eat Tep.
