British buses outside London are often branded specifically to a route or route group, with advertising on the bus giving info on routing and frequency. I haven't noticed this elsewhere in Europe. Where else is it done routinely?

Former journalist Joshua Tanzer is doing a really excellent newsletter helping progressive candidates think about how to convince people of things. Would be very useful for many of my advocate followers. https://thekeynewsletter.substack.com/?utm_campaign=pub&utm_medium=web

Battery electric buses are "still in their infancy, actually." Milwaukee transit agency abandons plans for battery-electric fleet, due to high cost, manufacturers leaving US market. https://urbanmilwaukee.com/2024/02/28/transportation-transit-officials-done-with-battery-electric-buses/

Any Wikipedia editors out there? My page needs some updating. I have written up some comments but get an "Unexpected Error" when I put them on the talk page. Contact me here or go to humantransit.org and click the envelope to email me.

What if - hear me out -- what if we stopped tying people to trolley tracks and invested in public transportation?

humantransit,
@humantransit@mastodon.online avatar

@MnemosyneSinger Better still, replace the trolley with a bus so that it can go around obstacles!

As someone who lived in in the 90s and early 00s, I thought this @RebeccaSolnit piece beautifully captures what is being lost as the city shrinks to become a satellite of Silicon Valley. Not your usual nostalgia trip. Quite the opposite. https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v46/n03/rebecca-solnit/in-the-shadow-of-silicon-valley

"To read Human Transit, Revised Edition is to grasp not just what makes an effective bus route or rail line, but also to understand the geometry, economics, and human values that shape cities -- and that enhance or diminish them. -- Janette Sadik-Khan.
