Rough “toggle” guidelines:

  1. Use <button aria-pressed> for immediate effect and when JS is known to exist:

@aardrian @Lukew and to double check as we were discussing at Open UI yesterday: would a native toggle button (that handles aria-pressed, and is no participant in forms) make sense to you in addition to Apple's switch proposal? Some weren't sure if warranted as they seem similar, others (incl me) felt they are different (aria-pressed vs aria-checked being one)

@aardrian @yatil @Lukew re priorities: I feel it's just one of the many things that exists in ARIA and needs a HTML equivalent so that devs don't need to manually do the ARIA semantics. And this specific one is a somewhat low hanging fruit, I think?

  6. It's easy to add/edit alt text & captions now

What's step 5? A markdown file for every image? That sounds painful. A single json or yaml file mapping images to metadata? Maybe better? Could get out of hand. Some very simple CMS? Other ideas?

@mia if it's new images you could make a Shortcut that moves an image into said folder, but before that prompts for an alt and writes your input into a file with the same name alongside the image.

but it's old images isn't it?

Netlify wanted to charge me $55 again (they didn't) for HTMHell. They told me that I'm using up more than 100GB of bandwidth, mostly because of the RSS feed (70GB). The file is 2.7MB uncompressed.
Is that possible? Am I doing something wrong or incredibly right? :D

@matuzo how did you find out it was the RSS feed? My Netlify dashboard seems to only show per domain, I think I have a similar problem with my site, most months just under the 100 luckily

Filed a bug on a pretty inacurate web·dev article today. I appreciate the drive to explain WCAG rules, but you need to be accurate. Text MUST have a 4.5:1 contrast ratio (unless >24px or bold and > 18.6px, then it MUST be 3:1). Don’t weasel word a “should” in there.

I've been reading "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow" (thank you @dletorey for the tip), and I'm really (really) enjoying it - no spoilers please (about 75% through).

But it's giving me an extremely strong desire to MAKE. I really want to make a thing, but first - work, but also - where to start (too many (stupid) ideas).

Still, excellent book, definitely recommend (so long as it doesn't bork it in the last 1/4th)

The European Parliamentary Elections are during CSS Day so I've just arranged to vote in Amsterdam (with Kiezerspas).

This is an important vote. Collectively we've got to cast a lot of votes on parties that are not extreme right, and (personal opinion) prioritise very ambituous climate policy over nonsensical anti migrant populism.
