I‘m rewatching #TheBigBangTheory, now 2 years after my #autism diagnosis. I dont know what people dislike about this show. Sheldon makes me feel very validated. his friends making fun of him both shows problems of modern society and boundaries we sometimes dont see (like speaking the truth when someone is already down).

A question I feel like we all must ask those who are wanting to "coach" neurodiverse people?

If you are not ready to deconstruct modern paradigms, including modern coaching training programs, then can you really say you're for full liberation?

Or are you still wanting liberation within the guise of cultural and societal norms which are harming people?

The more I play 10th edition, the more I think the game system is disappointing. I just find the « rule stacking » that is encouraged in this edition to be illegible when fighting your opponent.

Each unit has a special rule, their attached characters have special rules on top, your army and detachment add extra rules, and stratagems give even more variance.

I‘m not familiar with 40k rules. I played fantasy some 20 yrs ago.

Maybe you need an app to accumulate all the stats for each character? If none exists we could write one? Maybe in bash? :D

@linmob i agree. That includes me. I dont need that attitude when arriving at a new place. The burnout partially happens because people cant handle dissent and drive away contributors to be.

This „user mentality“ buzzword is ultra toxic. Users are who we make the software for. I cant count how often so said „that you have to turn around and tap your hat three times is intended.“

A lot of people have accessibility issues and making software straightforard to use is the way to go.

Nobody shifts any blame. The issue is inability to enforce boundaries constructively.

If anyone is overburdened and/or underappreciated - which I get - they are right to withdraw as much as needed.

But there is a difference between saying „sorry I dont have the time“ and „open issue upstream, locked“

Simply because I'm not being shut down for asking a question. Tell me what the issue is in a civilized matter and you will get an apology, be dismissive and ableist and you will get no such thing.

So yes, this discussion is going nowhere because you're defending something against constructive criticism and people trying to help.

today i got my new tinker phone and I managed to install #Postmarketos and #phosh on it. its definitely not a bug free experience but I love it. i sank like 10 hrs into it and its great fun.

the devs are very helpful if stuff doesnt work at all but mostly stuff can be solved with changing orientation or trying again.

nextcloud bookmarks and floccus doesnt wanna work atm and flathub outright is useless on this phone.

still, having a proper terminal and a phone i can own is great.

I've been working on getting off #youtube for a long time now. My viewing habits have changed significantly. Partly thanks to #peertube, which works well but is still in its infancy.

We need openly #neurodivergent folks both as #creators and as #developers of the platform and the #fediverse as a whole so that it reflects our needs.

Its not either screaming bloody murder or silently accepting everything. 🖖

@actuallyautistic having a character development day… again. Thinking about life. I chose to reflect on the rumor of autistic people having an average life expectancy of 36 yrs I heard. Turns out, this is most likely false. I just shrunk my #mastodon instance from roughly 20G to 5G in space usage thanks to tootctl. Awesome tool! I made it part of my nightly backup script and it should now stop filling up. :) now I finally have space on my vps again!

So I just learned about (https://coding.social/) which is absolutely awesome!

For decades I'm learning to code on and off as a hobby. I feel like helping out in would be a gamechanger for me but I cant identify where to help (I know some python and c# but nothing great).

My github account is meh at best and when TIL about git forges joining the I was thunderstruck. Is anyone else eager to de-corpo git once we have it running? Forgejo seems to be pioneering atm.

Being autistic for me means behave a certain way, speak a certain code and keep certain aspects of myself hidden or risk to get attacked, verbally or physically.

looking forward to again hosting dnd this saturday. it just occured to me that our reality is sad and pathetic. turning to the internet and people outside this oppressive „society“ is like looking at a piece of art.

Might be seasonal depression but it was really palpable today.

Anyone relate?

@autism101 @actuallyautistic this is so me! I tend to really stick to things I enjoy amd that are a challenge. The reason I havent done this in the past seems to be keeping away from stuff I deeply enjoy (sounds weird, right?)

The outcome is that I learn very fast and solve problems fast but you just cant talk to me meanwhile, I wont listen. Afterward I need time to let go. Sometimes I need a reminder that something doesnt work rn.

Mostly small amounts of alcohol and hookah (flavored tobacco). Meditation/Yoga, Endurance Sports, etc.

Since then: no ads, rarely hatespeech in my feed and can decide what I want to see instead of corporate rule.

I also dont need paid subscriptions for it, unified all my chat apps to one and so on.

Enough is quite a strong word imo. Still working on it.

Online and offline support groups are very helpful. Also, connecting here on mastodon and shouting into the void, getting the occasional feedback, good or bad helps me find nuances in my thoughts.

I use lemmy quite a bit since I enjoy the long form content/blog/forum style there. Quite a couple autistic groups and individuals there.

Allerdings muss ich jetzt mal dumm fragen. Java hat doch har keine ingame käufe? Oder meinst du das spiel selbst verschenken? Weil skins und server gibts auf java umsonst. Nur bei bedrock ziehen sie leuten das geld aus der tasche weshalb die jungen java spielen sollten.

My wife is looking forward to deleting her Instagram account once she can connect with the same folks from her Mastodon account. Being able to remain in touch with over 100M people who still use Meta products out of the comfort of an ad-free, privacy-friendly platform like Mastodon is a game changer.

@Gargron @nileane @theLUCASTDS in general, I completely agree but in cases like #gab it has been a rough time afaik and #meta #threads is 20x the number of users at least. Its a tech challenge as well as a moral challenge and discussion is what keeps the #fediverse strong.

If we federate before laying ground rules and defederate like gab, we will have insane content vacuum. This will drive a lot of users to switch to threads. A lot more than if we lay out rules.

Being @actuallyautistic and #gifted for me means I often get told the following, initially:

„No! You‘re wrong! What a shit take! You have no idea what you‘re talking about! Stop the drugs, man!“ and the like.

After some discussion, people say:

„I have not thought of it this way. I got you wrong. We should actually consider doing it your way. You seem to have deeper insight than the average person.“

This often makes me question my place in this world. Anyone else? #actuallyautistic
