Side note to the concept of „morality police“, like it seems to be in practical use in #Iran:

If #moral is backed up by a police, it is no moral anymore but positive law. The mere existence of such a law enforcement destroys the morals it tries to save.

Moral however escapes its own destruction by confronting the destructive force on moral grounds. The law of morality is debunked as fundamentally immoral.

#Moral is saved by resistance to morals.

Side note to the side note:

In the original note I distinguish „moral“ (Moral) from „morals“ (Sitten) and „morality“ (sittliches und moralisches Handeln). I hope, this translates well into English.

In morality (Handeln), moral and morals are not so easy to distinguish. This works only when reflecting or conceptualizing the practice. This reflection is based on moral grounds in the first place as a critic of both morals and morality.

Von den beiden Regierungen in Berlin erwarte ich konkrete Maßnahmen sowie eine strategische Ausrichtung der Politik, die ihr diese Angst nehmen.

Mehr will ich zu diesem Thema derzeit, und bis das umgesetzt wurde, nicht sagen.

#mathematics is probably about structure (relations) and invariants (identities). Theoretical #physics knows the notion of an „unphysical solution“ - not all implications of a theory make physically sense. To decide, one puts the theory into the context of experiment (practice).

What if a #LLM is a collection of structure and invariants? And what if the „inaccurate“ outputs (bias, „hallucinations“) are like „unphysical solutions“? They need practical constraints.

@scorpil Agree. My point is that to make these systems „accurate“, there is much more needed as we have today. Whatever that may be. And the implication is, to me, that their usefulness is very limited. It‘s much more impressive and awe provoking than - useful.

But one thing is for sure: this is how #fascism works. They fight not only the vulnerable, they also fight each other. There is no loyalty to no one, least of all to „the people“.

Fight, murder and war is the essence of #fascism. Stable is only the presence of this.

You can see this in embryonic form also in GOP, or in #noAFD in Germany.

    The Problem with #Facebook joining the #Fediverse is that all they need to do is to become the one easy to find instance to join. Given the massive scale they have to begin with, this is a no-brainer.

    Everyone not consciously looking for something decentral will end up there. After a year, they dominate 95% of the Fediverse.

    The decentral instances will be mere dust particles, and nobody cares if they defederate.

    A practice of delegating decisions to #algorithms is in truth an attempt to get rid of responsibility.

    Decisions have always an ethical and political dimension. Delegation may be bureaucratically or technocratically, it cannot remove that dimension.

    It may cloak it. The decision may be harder to attribute to someone.

    However, responsible are always those who created the institution, who are controlling it, the ones who delegate.

    While „posthuman“ naturalism draws humans as saucy animals, „animism“ as sketched by Descola draws animals and plants as masquerading humans.

    For the naturalist posthuman move it is very hard not to lose ethics, as in naturalism ethics has no hold in nature.

    The animistic move is based on ethics in the first place and does not have this problem. Yet it doesn’t need „human supremacy“, in so far as anything with which humans can interact at all is human in the first place.

    Even we ourselves may not be entirely free of animistic traits. Just think of how we give names to our cars to integrate them into our families. Some may even think, cars have rights, and treat them with more care than their children or dogs.

    Yet this is a completely different stance as towards free animals or plants that people the world around us.

    Machines are products of mastery. They are things, like cattle or slaves. We never see them as true relatives, even if we identify them.
