After 6 months, I've had to resubscribe to Adobe PS. I work with too many people who send me PS files and there is no alternative that can open and save them reliability. It sad how many "helper" apps Adobe installs and how often they try to connect to the internet. I block them all, but it's scary. I have to unblock them every 30 days. Please do not suggest alternatives unless you know for a fact they load and save .psd files seamlessly. Do not suggest GIMP or I block you.
Just trying out some games from @llamasoft_ox's anthology (released today) and I'm-a let you finish, but Attack Of The Mutant Camels Atari 800 version is one of the best shooters of all time. Of all time.
Did you release a game for a retro platform in 2023?
DOS? GBA? Mega Drive? C64? NES? PS1? Wii? Speccy?
Or do you know of one that you really like as a player?
Can you tell me about it within the next 14 hours?
I'm writing a very fast turn-around article for a retro book that I'm handing over first thing tomorrow morning and I want to finish it up by name checking some modern retro games, including those that aren't necessarily on my radar.
I obviously know about notable stuff like The Aching, Briley Witch 2, GoodBoy Galaxy, and Barren Planet, but there's just so much cool software coming out on "dead" platforms and I'd like to know about anything amazing that I might have missed.
It's currently about 15:30 UTC on the 10th of January 2024. That means your cut-off is around 5:30 UTC on the 11th of January. The sooner the better, though.
@HauntedOwlbear Adam is Me (https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=94605) is a game inspired by Baba is You, originally on Atari 800 (http://aim.atariscene.pl). I released a port for the Atari ST in July 2023 (with the final still pending) and I am also preparing ports for Amiga, Megadrive, Neogeo and Jaguar. LMK if you need more details!
I've never been friends with GHex. That was one of the biggest surprises as I went from macOS on my clients to Linux - getting a worse graphical hex editor.
Today I found Bless. And wow the reviews on the Ubuntu software store (Snap as well as Flatpak) need to be reset. It's way better than GHex - especially once you put the effort into creating your own Layout.
I now have two dark-mode versions. One for regular use, and one with the Atari ST system font for when I'm working with old Atari binaries.
Please tell me the project hasn't been abandoned ...
Finally out (but not yet final!): An Atari 800 game ported to the #atarist by yours truly plus so many other nice people like TiNKer, DMA-SC, Templeton. Feel free to download from https://pouet.net/prod.php?which=94605 and enjoy!
And yes, this is directly influenced by Baba is you, which makes it an even bigger achievement given the platform it originally ran! I almost felt guilty running this on the ST!
Some more info. Although this was released on Atari ST, I also have working versions for Atari Jaguar, Commodore Amiga, Sega Megadrive and SNK Neogeo. So, if any brave souls would like to help me out (mostly looking for music here, the rest is more or less covered), let me know!
