Still going slow posting on here because I'm still sick and for many hours of the day it's quite debilitating. That said the last few days have seen an improvement in severity so it may be slow but I believe it's going in the right direction - 17 weeks after the day it started. When you see me posting a load of sketches and new paintings you'll know I'm doing better.
"Ring, Cork" Once upon a time I sat with my bicycle a short distance south of Clonakilty, looking across the bay to Inchydoney doing this #painting before #cycling on to Skibbereen by sunset. A wonderful day it included a woman who was a complete stranger coming out of her house and handing me a tray with a pot of tea and a feed of sandwiches - just because she saw me there. #MastoArt#MastoDaoine#Art#Ireland

@bananabob Thank you very much. I did love the experience of painting this picture there, but it didn't come easy and I struggled as the tide came all the way in and went all the way back out again, as the boats did their share of moving around too.
The physio work I'm doing for my knees and heel is pretty slow motion stuff but feels like it's working. The last time I did physio was back in 1991 for 5 months of daily visits to a hospital when I had found myself unable to walk more than a few metres and had to give up football, tennis, running and hiking. The year after that physio I cycled from Dublin to Istanbul. I'll be happy this time if I can cycle to Kildare when it's all over - next year by the sounds of it.
@psneeze It does. I'm not sure when we'll know how far things can improve but he reckons there's no structural damage and right now I'm a lot better than I was a few months ago.
Spent a good chunk of today cutting a hedge into the shape of, well, a hedge. One day I'll do it into the shape of a chain of elephants. Not tomorrow though as I have to go to Aldi.
Was away last month for my annual holiday in #Sligo. Those few days are always the highlight of my year and this year no less wonderful. Did a lot of sketching, chatting, drinking tea, swimming with a stick, supping pints, reading, laughing, and my first long walk in years. I even took a photo - one evening while we were hanging on the beach while the sun did its setting thing over Killala Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Good times. #MastoDaoine#Ireland
New #painting! A commission years in progress. Started by sitting in a field in #Sligo in the west of #Ireland for hours one day painting many sketches as the tide and the Moy estuary swapped places and colours between Bartragh Island and the dunes of Enniscrone Beach. #Art#MastoDaoine#MastoArt#Artist
A billionaire dismantling the main platform a lot of us use to sell work during a time when the increased cost of living means there's less disposable income around for people to support artists in general is Fine, Actually. It's all Fine.
@Ciaraioch I made €27.90 income last month. I always thought the site would end though more gradually through technology and behavioural changes rather than at the hands of a megalomaniac. I'm tired.
"Oldtown" This thatched cottage in the east of #Ireland is your early #painting today. One day last year after #cycling from Ashton in County Meath to Garristown in the very north of County #Dublin I sketched for a while before I cycled on to the very small village of Oldtown where I came across this delightful cottage and fabulous tree. So I sat on a wall by a water pump and painted it. #Art#MastoArt#UrbanSketching#Artist#MastoDaoine#Watercolour
"Golden Leaves V" Today's late #painting is the 5th in my ongoing series of autumnal trees. I started it about 12 yrs ago when I had a studio on grounds with acres of trees. I'd cycle through the woods to the studio and take breaks to walk in them, up and down to the river so many times. Intermittently I'd work on this painting trying to capture those walks. #Art#MastoArt#MastoDaoine#Artist#Cycling#Ireland
"Holywood and Belfast Lough" Today's early #painting is from the northeast of #Ireland. It was painted in County Down after #cycling from Antrim through the centre of Belfast city and out along the southern shore of the lough to Helen's Bay. #Art #MastoArt#MAstoDaoine#Artist
"Fitzwilliam Square" Your late #painting today is one I spent two and half years on, from first sketching it one day beside my bicycle in the heart of Georgian #Dublin, through to mostly painting bricks. It's one of my largest paintings. In portrait format so will need clicking to see the whole picture. #Art#Ireland
No prints are available of this painting yet - but hoping there will be in the future. #MastoArt#MastoDaoine#Artist
