    looking for some #pgp advice. i updated my key several years ago with some email aliases, but now i want it to be more authoritative. is the best option to deprecate the old key and start a new one, or is there a way to invalidate some of the aliases?

    @proactiveservices it's funny, i did something similar years ago and ended up revoking the entire key because i didn't understand the mechanics. i would have loved to have kept the same key, but just didn't understand the architecture well enough.

    to @duxsco 's point about revoking my key, one thing i am hesitant about is that i have signed several commits in git with this key. what would be the transitive effects of revoking the whole thing?

    @chris just curious, is there docker-specific behavior you need that podman doesn't have?

    i mostly use podman these days, but i do sometimes need to use docker. like when i'm using some cluster-api/kind interactions for kubernetes.

    @chris that's a good question, i haven't yet hit an issue with my workflow and the fedora firewall with podman.

    that said, most of my networking exposure in podman is around creating and bridging networks within my own userspace, so i am probably not exercising the same things that you are.

    a point of great debate and discussion (granted i am the originator of said conversations) while i have been here is the office coffee machine selection for "irish coffee". not sure I'm bold enough to try it yet, but i think there will be a great taste testing at some point.

    People keep bringing up the very tired “Linux on the desktop” meme to dismiss the Fediverse.

    But a meme is just a meme.

    In the real world, Linux dominates.

    Your phone? Probably Linux. Your car’s infotainment system? Linux. Your router? Linux.

    Chromebook? Linux.

    Windows has a Linux Subsystem too.

    Linux has won.

    The “Linux on the desktop” naysayers don’t even realize it.

    The Fediverse should be so lucky.

    @atomicpoet i'm not even sure what the "linux on desktop" naysayers are even on about these days. i've been using linux as my desktop for more than 2 decades, both personally and professionally, so yeah... i suppose freedom of choice is the true winner here =)

    @wx1g @fuzzface i feel like this even happened back in the BBS days with large boards realizing they charge membership fees for downloading "warez". the conversations got worse and the communities became more transactional and less personal. imo

    Stop thinking of Twitter, TikTok, IG, (et al) as social media sites.

    They are Content Refineries.

    Like processed food manufacturers they take user content & extract the most addicting/engaging content. Brains eat it up but in an unhealthy “devour the whole bag of chips” way.

    They make hyper-processed social media junk food.

    Mastodon is more like a potluck. We're all bringing dishes. It's a mess. Kids are running all over. But we are, at least, real people sharing real things.
