I walk upwards along an asphalt dirt road. There is a meadow on the left, the grass is very high. You can see a deer 10 meters away staring at me. I get closer and closer until it suddenly hops away.

Ja, und ich liebe es! Wir sind das letzte Haus in der Siedlung und umgeben von Feldern und Wiesen. Normalerweise stehen die immer in der Herde zusammen (so ca. 30 Tiere), heute waren die aber überall einzeln im hohen Gras verteilt, und haben mich beim spazieren gehen neugierig beobachtet.

Vor ein paar Tagen war direkt neben unserem Haus ein kleines Kitz, dem konnte ich mich vorsichtig bis knapp 3 Meter nähern, erst dann ist es davon gehüpft. Es war magisch!

Can someone tell me what this is?

Today my son found a small box hidden under some stones under a tree somewhere in the fields.

It contained a stamp device, one large and a small pin and a chestnut (see images attached)

The stamp impression shows an owl sitting on a tree and some text that looks like usernames from the 2000s.

So, what is it what he found? Are we now in some sort of cult? 😬

Oh lord... My son found it when they were hiking with his Kindergarten group. Since TIL about Geocaching I told him we need to bring it back. He said "but the box is also gone". 🤷

@nyanhp danke für den Tipp. Ich hab mich gestern etwas in die Materie eingelesen, und mein Sohn ist jetzt Feuer und Flamme und hat schon selbst Geocaches zusammengestellt 😂

Was ich noch nicht so richtig verstehe: gibt es mehrere Geocaching Lösungen, oder eine zentrale mit verschiedenen Clients?

@AqiDrago yeah he told me he thought he found a treasure 😂
I mean, that's adorable, but you are of course right, he can't just take the things he finds.
We talked about Geocaching and he immediatelly put together boxes he wants to hide. Also he wants to find all geocaches nearby. 😊

I also reached out to the "owners", they replied that as long as the log is still there, it's fine. And he can keep the rest 😊

I don't know Sonata Arctica and I didn't know about their existence until @Dad_Wood tooted about them.

Judging from the name and the artwork I expected Nightwish style melodic/symphonic metal from Finland 🇫🇮

Turns out the latter was correct, and for the other stuff?

Well, I guess I need to find out, and there is only one way to do this properly... #Metaljourney 🤘

3 songs in and Clear Cold Beyond is already my favourite Sonata Arctica album.

The riffs hit harder, the pace is fast, the cheesy stuff is very reduced and the vocals are less annoying.

Clear Cold Beyond was on its way to a 4 star rating (=great) , but then comes the second half that brings back the corny ballads (Teardrops, The Best Things, title track) and my rating drops to a (still good) 3.5/5.

Man there's so much potential for real greatness - but at least for me- they ruin it with their Diseny movie soundtrack stuff.
