    @schwa glad you had better luck with ttartisan. Bought a 500 with rf mount from them. It wobbles on the mount. Can’t focus it because it shifts as you hold and let go. Complete crap :( maybe I just got unlucky.

    #MyFirstMac was the original Macintosh; some of my earliest memories are sitting on my dad’s lap "helping" him draw with MacPaint. I think the first Mac I truly and completely loved with all my heart was my Blueberry clamshell MacBook. I took it to college with me and my knowledge of it got me a position in our IT department for workstudy. And the rest, as they say, is history. Happy birthday, Macintosh!

    What is people's go-to travel plug adapter? I have one that works with most of the world's plugs, but it is quite bulky. I am thinking they have become more compact since I got mine.

    @simonbs this is obviously very US plug focused, but we love the Ceptics WPS-5B. So much so that we use it at home and for local travel.

    I’m at the point in my life where I need to plan on leaving my family behind with a “passive” source of income beyond my life insurance. One of the most obvious things I can do is to buy houses (outside the SFBA, so I can afford them), and rent them out to tenants.

    BUT I DO NOT WANT TO BE A LANDLORD. I fucking hate landlords.

    What have you done to achieve this end?

    Gun lobby has been bamboozling us with equivocation or a lie of omission, depending on perspective.

    They try to convince us that:

    "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun".

    They conveniently omit a clause:

    "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun during the commission of their atrocity is a good guy with a gun".

    Most of us want to prevent the atrocity — practically that means stopping the bad guy from getting a gun before they start.

    I bought a large-format scanner, and the bundled software — which is called, no joking, MAC ACTION — has debugging left enabled in the most legendary way…

    …it does a wall which writes debugging to any open Terminal window.

    Is it just me or has reddit dot com broken all of its image hosting links by returning atrociously broken, unzoomable HTML pages for all their images, including ones that end in .jpg?

    Oddly, curling the url yields the actual file.
