So tomorrow is going to suck I need upgrade my PfSense firewall and apparently there is a bug that requires a reinstall to get it fixed as the partition was too small. Then I can get around to setting up @protonprivacy and @bitwarden but I am keeping @keepassxc for the TOTP MFA, because I don’t want to store those in the same password manager. Also rotating all passwords and setting up new Yubikeys then migrating from Ledger to Trezor #infosec
@protonprivacy@bitwarden@keepassxc on top of all that I need to reset my Samsung S23 I use for TikTok as there is a bug training the battery too fast and that’s a fix, and then reset my Pixel 7a with GrapheneOS to prepare for @defcon and once all that’s done then finish the Qubes OS laptop for the #DEFCON prep… better to get all this work done now before a last minute rush.
@endareth I honestly wish I could fit 64 TOTP instead of 32. I feel like I need to carry two to have all my TOTP... I already carry two, one for work and one for personal
There's so much fear in the fediverse about bad admins/mods, and honestly it's no different to the days where we had forums with bad admins/mods.
The problem is that largely for the past decade people have been in walled gardens either never thinking of moderation, or actively needing to work against moderation to exist.
And you didn't have a choice, because you were locked into that provider & their moderation policies.

Question for crypto (as in cryptographic) nerds, I am looking for an automated solution for on-prem backups that encrypts said backup. The plan is to take said encrypted backup and store it off sight. Prefer open source, and for further context consider this "home lab" although it does involve multiple servers with public IPs etc. I do not want to have the encryption key easily reachable like in plaintext in a config file.
Right now this is all happening manually, but automated would make this so much easier. It does not have to be a full end-to-end solution, even just the encrypting part being able to be automated would be fine as I could simply script around it. Thoughts and recommendations?
@simplenomad it's not open source but Veeam with an encrypted S3 bucket is an option if I am understanding correctly. they have a free plan. I personally use a Synology NAS and backup to Wasabi S3 from there
I was sent this mouse made of Magnesium to test out a bit from a vendor for TikTok. Bluetooth, and wireless with a dongle but also can work as a wired mouse. It has up to 4KHz polling with the adapter, and up to 26,000 DPI. I like the design (this is a battle worn design), added the grip stickers it came with, which look nice and add a nice texture. There is lighting built in. It’s very light and honestly my only complaint so far, lack of side scrolling.
@endeavorance it does feel weird because it's metal and I was expecting it to be heavy, but it's as light as my Logitech G903 with the powerplay puck.
I don't know if I will use this as my regular mouse on my workstation, but I think it will be my new travel mouse for when I need to connect a laptop to something, especially since this one has bluetooth and the regular wireless dongle. Because I needz my side scrolling in my G502 and G903 mice.
@endeavorance I think you and I are still used to the weight of a trackball mouse to be honest, it must be something baked it our minds that mice must have weight.
@endeavorance yeah I am weird, I got used to lighter mice after a while and use a G502 with no weights, but I did just swap the G502 out of my streaming PC for a Ploopy Adept trackball I 3D Printed to save some space as I have a kind of cramped 2 PC stream setup, and I love the heavier trackball a lot more. I put a vintage 8 ball in my mouse.
I think since @protonprivacy is dragging their feet on releasing a Linux offline application for Proton Pass, I'll just pull the trigger on going to Bitwarden Premium. Yes I know there are self hosted options and yada yada yada. But I need something reliable, I can secure with my @yubico Yubikeys and have reliable access wherever I am, and still have offline capability. I can't believe they announce it in February with only a Windows App, and still drag their feet on Mac and Linux.
