#Switch owners. I need a fighting game that isn't Smash Bros or Mortal Kombat...

Any recommendations?

2024 starts out with my campus blocking every instance of #invidious so now I guess I won't be able to do what I planned on doing in class. Yay.

Besides a raspberry pi, which I already have, which SBC or NUC would make a good media centre? Don't need 4K but I'd like something I can add storage to other than with a HAT or over USB. There are just so many options now and I don't want to overdo it for something that will just be sitting in a drawer.

Oh my I did something! A little copying and pasting and some regex stuff and I made something that someone might actually use.

@clive shared a story the other day about how larger companies are breaking rules and shoving garbage articles in our faces so... I made some lists for uBlacklist to filter out those shite results

After trying the MP01 and MP02 (and skipping the upgraded MP02) I am not surprised in the least to read a review like this: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/punkt-mc02-android-phone-so-bad-i-could-not-review-it/

The phone I've been beta-testing since April will be announced this week...

And the company just sent out an email about providing alternative OS's?

Now things are getting interesting!

I am nearly 40.

I've watched over 14,000 episodes of television (according to Trakt).

This morning I watched one of the most perfectly paced, beautiful, well-written examples of animated story-telling for children.

Many shows for kids have been reduced to self-contained 7-minute shorts. A full arc from exposition to denouement plus opening and closing credits is the norm. Good story-tellers can still do a lot with that.

Continuity, for example, is something kids grasp and enjoy...

Web developer people. I am lacking the vocabulary to complain about something to the IT folks at my work.

We are using a very sloppy online exam software with MANY bugs. One of which is this, and I'm looking to explain it using the right terminology:

When editing a field, the field randomly becomes "unfocused" causing the key presses to register as browser shortcuts. Is there a better way to describe this?

Ah jeez, I thought I'd get through 2023 without one of these.

I do have a blog, but it is a personal blog. I might reply and say that content like this costs... I mean... Exposure? I am just confused. Clearly nobody looked at my blog.

Although, it would be hilarious to have an article called "Understanding the Value of Premium Domains: Why They Matter" on a janky blog hosted on a code forge site...

This week #BeReal spilled over into my classes. The number of student users has grown to such a point that it is disturbing classes across the campus.
I am upset by the fact that I have been photographed while at work. The coincidence that it happened during a lesson on BJ Fogg is salt in the wound.
And, just in time, BeReal, which received funding from a16z and the likes, is surprising nobody by announcing the arrival of brands and celebs.
"Real" indeed.

Any thoughts on , the streaming service?

I don't mind paying for the content, and as I understand the creators get around 50% of the cut (is that right?), but I'd like to know if anyone has any particular gripes.

Fed up with neverending backtracking in metroidvanias and die-and-retry roguelites?

Want to play a lovely under–10-hour side scrolling platformer with 16-bit graphics?

Grab a copy of Kaze and The Wild Masks next time it is on sale.

No, it isn't a polished AAA game, but it is a great throwback for anyone who played this type of game as a kid. Difficulty wise, it is just challenging enough to be satisfying.

Our students are allowed to appeal and challenge their grades. This has never been an issue. In our department, we might have a handful per semester.

Well, that was then, this is now, and now my manager is getting hundreds of email notifications. Entire classes are appealing. Even students with 90% averages.

I guess we're going to start rounding up to the nearest multiple of 5 or 10 or just do pass/fail/Mulligan or something.

I let things slide. Mostly. I make an effort to not be difficult, especially since I do not work in tech. For example, I wouldn't be upset about code being on GitHub.

My eyes will roll, though, if your landing page is filled with Corporate Memphis artwork AND your forum is a Discord AND your blog is on Medium.
