Did I mention that it would be really nice to have as an embeddable library similar to ? Size wise that should be fine, I think the whole PG daemon is just ~5MB.
I know that the architecture doesn't lean to it, but someone has to do this eventually! 🙂

@helge I know that PostgreSQL has some features SQLite doesn't have. But when you give up all the server capabilities, it's almost SQLite again. Almost.

@helge I used both, extensively. Ok, I used and use PG more.

Getting PG down to a minimum of resources is ... hard. Even getting it to the point of starting fast is hard work. That's ms, not μs. And that will still be true as a lib. But it's not going to be "just a lib", embedded in your app. At least not without massive architecture changes.

@helge It's part of several projects where I don't need a full fledged database. Basically every script I have running locally moved to SQLite over time, away from PG. Except the "presseverteiler".

You are looking at this from the "I want that" perspective. I'm looking at this from the "what's needed to make this happen" perspective. And that's a lot of work, with quite a few compromises along the way.

At $work we have some tools which hook into the server like this, and it's not very nice.

Warum hat das keine Schnittstelle zu ? Warum nicht wenigstens einen -Import? Warum kann man zum Tracken nur die schraddelige App auf dem Smartphone nutzen? Es könnte alles so einfach sein.

Seilbahnen, Busse auf Stelzen, Flugtaxis und andere Technikfantasien dienen dazu, das Verkehrsproblem in Städten zu "lösen", ohne den Verursacher, den motorisierten Individualverkehr, anzugehen oder ihm Platz weg zu nehmen.

15 qm Platz pro stehendem Auto, plus 4m x Abstand halber Tacho beim Fahrenden Auto, besetzt mit im Schnitt 1.3 Personen sind in dicht besiedelten Gebieten nicht haltbar.

@frank @larsmb @isotopp Die Stellen die heute eine Seilbahn brauchen und keine anderen geeigneten Lösungen haben - eine Brücke zum Beispiel - haben auch heute schon eine Seilbahn.

Der gesamte Vorschlag ist dafür da dass die Leute darüber reden und eine Weile nicht mehr auf den Ausbau einer weiteren Autobahn zeigen. Sind ja bald Wahlen, die FDP weiß dass sie raus ist. Also noch schnell Fakten schaffen und alles Ungeliebte möglichst verhindern.

@343max @wonka @isotopp Die Leute haben aber auch nur eine Stimme. Zwar eine sehr laute Stimme in den sozialen Medien, aber nur eine Stimme bei der Wahl.

Die Politiker lassen sich vom Geschrei der Autofahrer und dem Lärm und Hupen der Autos überzeugen. Und das ist falsch.

@343max @wonka @isotopp Keine Frage, Politiker vieler Parteien fallen gerne und schnell um sobald der Wähler etwas lauter wird. Das eine (Seilbahn & Spezl) schließt das andere (Bauern) nicht aus.

Wenn zwei eine Grube abdeckende Metallplatten auf einer Straße in Fahrtrichtung so weit auseinanderliegen, dass man mit dem Fahrradreifen locker reinrutschen, stürzen und sich schwer verletzen kann, ist das schnellstmöglich zu beseitigen.

Nicht so die Einschätzung der #Polizei. Die Steife wäre vorbeigekommen und hätte das nicht als Problem gesehen, wird mir auf telefonische Nachfrage gesagt.

@isotopp no no Kris, that's alright. I apply for 500 jobs and send the AI avatar to the Recruiting meetings. Or 5000 jobs, doesn't matter, at this point the process is automated and I sell the software. Subscription based, of course.
