I might have spent some time on this. Oops.

Some rough edges to tidy up and need to figure out whether I should have a CORS proxy or not. But quite happy with how it turned out - Tailwind is a bit messy but makes things look nice at least.

Why am I hearing that Nix is on fire :(

So uh, who's moving to Signal /s

Genuinely thinking about what alternatives to Telegram there are just in case, because I realise I never really paid attention.

Prepping to move floofy.tech to some new hardware and general architecture soon. Plan is to move our frontend and probably sidekiq workers first, then move databases and redis in the following days.

Will talk more about it, but the short version is we are running a k3s cluster on dedicated hardware using virtual machines. Still figuring out the finer details. Databases will likely also run within the cluster. Looking at Dragonfly as a Redis replacement for the heck of it.

Also @kakious is cute

Huh. I thought my cluster was running etcd in HA, but, uh, apparently they aren't talking to each other.

Today I'm going to format one of my drives and turn it into a bcachefs filesystem <:)

Debating switching some of my stuff off of AWS and (back) to Cloudflare, like my DNS and domain registration in a few places, maybe some sites from Vercel and Lambdas.

Mostly made the switch during the whole KF debacle, but they stayed off as my own little protest against them gaining more power over the web. But frankly speaking I don't think that has much impact and I'm using another huge provider anyways.

sigh

DigitalOcean not letting you scale down databases is such a colossal pain in my ass.

Let's see how smoothly we can upgrade the floofy.tech Kubernetes cluster.

I had a random thought and of course I wasn't the only one to have this mildly insane thought https://github.com/DBCDK/kubernixos

Apparently Podman can’t build the Mastodon container image.

Guess I’m… either going back to Docker or having both installed at the same time.

Alright Fedi, suggest some #music for my week. Anything welcome but prefer metal/hard rock/electronic :D

Really need to automate my offsite backups. Right now I have to manually tar+zstd with a timestamp then upload to AWS Glacier Instant Retrieval (with the cli), or use the aws cli to sync a directory. I really like the low cost of S3 Glacier IR, but maybe I'll transition back to Backblaze for the lower standard tier cost.

Not sure :/

Just realised I have 4 ssh sessions open for the same server for a task I should really be using tmux for lol

Can't tell if this Django app is slow because it's a Django app, a badly written Django app, using SQLite over an NFS share, or something else.

Please, I beg you, put your username and password inputs on the same page. Don't make me click a button to go to the password entry then another to login.

Remember folks

Use #!/usr/bin/env in your scripts.

Not #!/bin/bash >:(

Decided "screw it" and switched my NAS to #nixos unstable.

For context, we pay for 1000Mb/s down 100Mb/s up, with 500Mb/s down guaranteed. But a few days ago download speeds completely dropped off .-.

We love ISPs!

A Grafana graph showing a point after a big drop, showing 322 Mb/s download and 103 Mb/s upload.
