@adam I'm saddened by the folks leaving omg.lol but I'm not going anywhere. I sent the developer a message of support w/out knowing the whole story because he has always been nice to me and I am a supportive person. I also sent Melanie a public note of support tonight once the whole story came out for the same reason. I'm not on anyone's team, I'm cool with pronouns and I am all about forgiveness because I've had some ugly fuck-ups in my time. I got enough love to go around.
What's the Matter with Lance Armstong? https://louplummer.lol/post/what-s-the-matter-with-lance-armstong I have written before on how cycling changed my life. In December of 2008 I weighed nearly 300lbs and had been drinking on a daily basis for years. I had my last drink three days after Christmas that year. Twelve months later I weighed less than 200 lbs., and I...
@greg I agree that doping is almost universal. It takes away the magic feeling I once had for pro sports so I'm glad I can still get excited about amateurs and the fringe sports I follow. BTW, did you happen to see the post I wrote about having Fayetteville as a hometown last week?
@zicklepop Mine doesn't take well to any sort of creative license when I'm telling a story. She's a volunteer fact checker who keeps threatening to get on Mastodon to "keep me honest".
The spotlight effect is the psychological phenomenon by which people tend to believe they are being noticed more than they really are. Being that one is constantly in the center of one’s own world, an accurate evaluation of how much one is noticed by others is uncommon…
How I Internet https://louplummer.lol/post/how-i-internet I do not have the time to internet the way I want to. In a perfect world, I would stay caught up on my RSS feeds instead of being somewhere around 7,000 articles behind. I would have all three of my email accounts at Inbox Zero instead of just the... #WeblogPoMo2024
@bup I love it. Jack Baty is probably a great guy, but I am much more interested in seeing what people like than what they dislike. I especially respect that you put your hometown on there. I love mine too (Fayetteville, NC) even if it gets a lot of crap for being a military town. I recently wrote a piece much like yours. https://louplummer.lol/post/twenty-sublime-moments
🚴 So my daughter and her family (all cyclists) are going to France in July and they don't plan to see a single stage of the Tour de France and I don't understand where I failed as a parent.
@greg They are all Tour fans too, but the logistics of the trip just didn't work out for them. The race is wonky this year because the Olympics are happening at the same time. It doesn't even end in Paris.
@greg One of my cycling buddies went a few years back and came back amazed at the size of the riders. He said most of them are as big as your average middle schooler. Even Mighty Mark Cavendish, the sprinter, was tiny he said.
