Safe guesses for what the carrier set voicemail pin could be? I’m trying to set up my voicemail box and it’s asking me for a pin I wasn’t given.

adam,

@evilcookies98 Try the last four digits of your phone number.

It's my birthday today, so to celebrate, I got Native instruments to run a 'Summer of Sound Sale' just for you.
OK no not really but it does coincide which works out well.
Anyway, treat yourself to a new library or something, and if you use my link, I get a little present too. No extra cost for you though of course, that would be mean.

For anyone who gives a quarter of crap, I have a burger and onion rings.

adam,

@evilcookies98 I love burgers! And onion rings, but only if they have really big onions in them, and are crispy, but not burnt. Where'd you get yours from?

I don’t know why this just popped into my head. OK, so Apple removed the physical Sim cards from their new phones. That kind of destroys the dual Sim functionality they bragged about.

adam,

@evilcookies98 It may seem like this on the surface, but in actual fact, iPhone allows storage of up to 8 E-SIMs, and two of those may be active at once. So although there are no physical SIM options for iPhones sold in the US, dual ESIM functionality is still possible.

adam,

@evilcookies98 I hear ya on not knowing that. And now you do! Yay! Smiles.

adam,

@evilcookies98 By chance, I actually did know that. But if I had never seen/felt a laptop before, I wouldn't even know what a laptop was, let alone that it had a keyboard. So there's that. Let's try not to be so hard on oneself. I honestly was just trying to help. Friendly hugs, if they would be welcome.

adam,

@evilcookies98 Oh, LOL. That totally went over my head, that's for sure. But then again I haven't even thought of JAWS basic training in twenty-five years. LOL.

I am officially stuck sitting in this hell hole never being able to do anything with my life

adam,

@evilcookies98 Hi there. We haven't talked much, if at all. But I just wanted you to know that I've been following you for a while, on this new account and on my old account. I just wanted to let you know that you are valued, you are worthy, and when people, organizations, governments, companies, and ultimately, money gets in your way and tries to knock you down, it is a reflection on it or them, not you. I have faith that you will be able to get the things you need and want and desire, and you'll be able to move forward with your life in due coarse and time. Please don't give up. When it seems like there's no where to go, the only directions that are possible are up and forward.

adam,

@evilcookies98 Alrighty.

adam,

@evilcookies98 Oh yeah, there's no doubt about the pervasiveness of prejudice. Its not just the USA, its everywhere. But the only way we can overcome prejudice is to stand up to it and beat it down until we're heard, understood, and get what we need. Much easier said than done, but we can either face our problems or give up on them. And no one got anywhere by giving up.

adam,

@evilcookies98 I'm sorry that the situation is so bleak. There are no easy answers, and it may seem like there are none at this point. But every day is a new day, and one never knows when the next good thing will happen. Hang in there. You're strong, even if you can't see or feel it right now. There are people rooting for you.

I'm so glad that my ISP allows up to five unique, and fully publically routable connections. Totally makes my life easier when testing security policies, firewalls, and VPN connections.

adam,

@bmoore123 I have Bell Canada Fiber To The Home. A.K.A Bell Pure Fibre. Bell allows up to five PPPoE sessions on both their XDSL and fiber networks. In order to make use of these, you'll need to establish separate PPPoE sessions from your own router or other network devices that support PPPoE.

adam,

@bmoore123 Yes, you are correct. Rogers allows two active DHCPv4 leases with publically routable IPv4 addresses. If you're using your own routing equipment with the modem in bridge mode, you can make use of both of these. However, if you're using the modem in full routing mode, you can only use one. Rogers does have one benfit over Bell, in that it is fully dual-stack IPv4 and v6 native capable. In the case of IPv6 addresses, each device on your network will get a publically routable v6 address in the global public space. Rogers assigns a /64 subnet.

adam,

@bmoore123 I'm not sure if that's a bug. It may be a security policy applied by Rogers. But please provide an example? If I were to guess, say you have a web server listening on RogPubIP1, and then you have another computer on RogPubIP2, and you try to connect to RogPubIP1's web server, you get no response?

adam,

@bmoore123 Well, without knowing exactly the Rogers security policy, its hard to say. As far as the physical ocnnections to the modem, I'll assume that you have either two routers connected to its LAN ports, or a router and a computer directly?

I hate docker! I hate reverse proxies! I hate docker! I hate reverse proxies! I hate docker! I hate reverse proxies! I hate docker! I hate reverse proxies!

adam,

@BrailleScreen @seedy @x0 @simon +1 to that! I have twenty plus years experience with Apache, and I've nearly entirely switched to Nginx. It is absolutely and completely and totally different, no doubt about that. But that doesn't mean its unlearnable, or untouchable or any reason to dismiss it out of hand. For reverse proxying, its hands down the solution to go with. Every single modern reverse proxying service or piece of software requiring reverse proxying services uses Nginx.

New instance, new introduction. Hello, I am Adam from Ottawa Canada. I am a totally blind man, identifying as he/him.
My primary interests are technology and music. I was a former professional drummer, playing the bar stages of Ottawa and the ocasional out-of-town show.
I've always been rhythmical, annoying the heck out of my parents at the tendor age of four on up banging on pots, pans, spoons, and whatever else I could get my grubby little hands on.
I got my first drum kit when I was 12, back in 1999. I got a couple of upgrades over the years, and then switched to electronic kits in 2007 when I managed to save and purchase a Roland TD-12 kit with my own money. That was like buying a car for me, LOL.
I was professionally active from 2007 until 2019.
Some hearing issues with extended loudness causing anxiety and unease started my issues with playing live shows, and then COVID19 really finished that career.

I've been interested in technology from a young age as well, receiving my first electronic note taker for the blind, a Blazie Engineering Braille Lite in 1996 at the age of 9.
I then got my first computer in the summer of 1998, learned DOS, then eventually Windows 3.1, 95, and on up.
I've had many, many, many computers and other technological devices since those days, and I have done any serious compute work in Linux, where in I am mostly referring to running servers, hosting things, and distributed compute projects.
Professionally, I am currently a systems/server administrator, backend web developer, database administrator, and infrastructure administrator.
Other interests include animals, documentaries, listening to most kinds of music, having deep intellectual conversations, and pondering the meaning of life.
