Hi, I'm SeedyThreeSixty, better known as Seedy. I'm a tech geek, fighting game lover, audiophile, text to speech enthusiast and maths nerd who loves to laugh and socialize. I'm 23 years old and have no eyesight. I am a sucker for old school hardware, software and TV; mainly late 90s/2000s era. Can someone link me to an article or something explaining how utterly terrible is for people? I need to slap a VPN provider in the face with it.

Your fact for the day: you know those musical sounds that everyone associates with Windows Longhorn, I.E. the codename for Windows Vista? Those aren't the original sounds. Those sounds are actually part of a custom theme pack for Windows XP, released by Samsung in 2005, which the community then attributed to Longhorn for some reason. Longhorn/Vista actually used Windows XP sounds for much of its development until way after the development reset in 2004.

Having a properly working startup, shutdown, logon and logoff sound in post-2009 Windows feels so good, also this Windows 10 system now sounds like Windows 2000! Thanks again to @fastfinge

@evilcookies98 @fastfinge Ensure Sound Manager is running as admin when you change the setting.

I've been trying to reset a Microsoft account password for weeks, and all my new passwords never worked. Turns out the new password form has 2 buttons labelled 'Reset Password', and I had to click the second one, not the first one. ♪ Confusion!

I hate docker! I hate reverse proxies! I hate docker! I hate reverse proxies! I hate docker! I hate reverse proxies! I hate docker! I hate reverse proxies!

seedy,

@x0 @BrailleScreen @simon I have NGINX Proxy Manager inside a container, and a microbin instance inside another container, both on the same network. The 2 containers can contact each other, but NPM is just refusing and refusing and refusing, and refusing, and refusing to pipe requests to the hostname through to the microbin.

seedy,

@BrailleScreen @x0 @simon I have 5 years of knowledge and V Hosts with apache, you really think I wanna be within a thousand feet of NGINX?

seedy,

@adam @BrailleScreen @x0 @simon as I say, give me a converter and we'll see.

seedy,

@adam @BrailleScreen @x0 @simon Sorry for sounding harsh, my brain just finds it difficult to switch from a to B, especially when I'm so comfortable and used to dealing with a, as I have been with apache for 5 years. Just thinking about it is making me feel physically weird.

@mutualaid Sorry for continuously posting this, but this is an emergency! If £9.49 isn't paid today, my phone number will be deactivated! I'm very stressed and anxious right now!

I'm building a live website monitoring tool for Windows. I'm not sure if there are any blind accessible ones out there, so why not sit down and make my own?

I'm gonna put my hands straight up and say that recently, I've been using AI to help me make my programs. Of course, I don't just release software that has been fully AI generated, I do have quite a bit of knowledge of my own to work with, and I'll always use that knowledge to modify the code to better fit my design paterns, to make it work with libraries I use etc. If there's a bug I'm really struggling to get my head around, or I want to add functionality that's a bit outside of my coding knowledge, then I'll use AI to help me out, read the code, check it, and modify accordingly. I should also mention that Typerspeed and Theseus2000 first came out way before the GPT fire started. But does using AI make me an inherently bad programmer, or a bad person in general?

For some reason, I find the idea of installing Windows Server 2003 on a consumer computer really amusing.

seedy,

@datajake1999 Who's helping you do it?

datajake1999, to random

Out of all the retro PCs I have, only 1 isn't in working order, specifically a Dell Dimension 2400. The computer doesn't even turn on, so I think the power supply is shot. I hope to get that system up and running at some point.

seedy,

@datajake1999 Is that the 2005 PC? I damn well hope not.

@mutualaid I'm £0.10 short of my £9.49 phone bill this month, and it's due in 5 days. I'm trying to get some help to find a job, but until then, #MutualAid is all I can rely on.

I decided to replace my TV because the volume buttons wouldn't work. I saw that the store had a deal for the exact same TV as my old one for 75% off. The offer was so good, I couldn't turn it down.

It looks like a bunch of elements on the Mastodon Explore page are returning 404 when loaded via the VPN reverse proxy, but work fine when loaded using the local reverse proxy. Something tells me its an access issue, where in the Puma webserver is not returning files since it is not recognizing the IP of the VPN reverse proxy. It is a 10.XXX address, and not the expected 127.0.0.1 address. But I thought I dealt with that using the environment variables. I'm all kinds of confused. I think its time to take a break for now. I'm just not sure if it should be a coffee break, or a sleep break, LOL.

seedy,

@drummer86 I'm confused? I thought you were using Glitch.

7-Zip implies 1-Zip, 2-Zip, 3-Zip, 4-Zip, 5-Zip and 6-Zip.

seedy,

@sasquatch Can't argue with that! Microsoft put 7-Zip and rar support into Windows 11, but I'll always use 7-Zip.

seedy,

@sasquatch I know PuTTY and FileZilla, but not GPG4Win and Yubikeys. I prefer WinSCP over FileZilla.

seedy, to accessibility

You should always be running the latest version of any software program.

Sure, until #accessibility for disabled users goes down the pisser and they're left feeling frustrated, upset, worried and confused as to how long it'll take for the shit they rely on every day to be usable again.
