I would really like to hear what Apple's plans are for multiple users on visionOS, because at $3,500 a pop it's not the kind of thing you can get one for each of the family, nor everybody in the office. This thing is absolutely going to need user account support of some kind, and not like tvOS — if it's a pro device intended for work, you really can't be sharing it, unlocked, with the kids to watch YouTube
@stroughtonsmith Did you notice the two ladies and the guy live in the same house in the demo? Looks like they are room mates, which means they are sharing the same Vision Pro.
If I were announcing an Apple headset, I would make sure the first thing you see is a fully realized, cycle-accurate, original Macintosh emulator in 3D 😋 Insert floppy disk, boot it up to the original demo, complete with intro speech.
@Migueldeicaza I disabled it a few months earlier, because I think it was sucking out battery life. But I remember getting many notifications of potential exposure. #COVID19
Catching up on the new things announced at Google I/O; I used to really enjoy my few Nexus-branded Android devices back in the day, but wow I really don't even know what Android is anymore, other than not-iPhone. There's just nothing about that OS, design language or ecosystem that appeals to me anymore. It doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, it just … exists 😅 Really sad we never got to see a Windows Phone 11 with the new design direction. Material You is just a huge swing and a miss to me
As somebody whose 14-year-old self had to painstakingly negotiate parental funding for the then-€999 Final Cut Pro 3 in 2001, I would have killed to have it for €5/mo on an 11" tablet 😅
@stroughtonsmith Same story with me and my Dad on the #Microsoft side. Persuasion to get him to buy Office 2000 Premium, Windows 2000 Professional and even Windows ME. That was nearly a thousand US dollars in software at the time. Oh, lets not forget, the biggest one of all, which is #Photoshop 7 which was US $600.
Honestly Spotlight is worse than Siri these days, and has been for a while. There was a brief moment in 2006 when Spotlight was incredible, instant and reliable. Spotlight in macOS 13 would rather spin up every network share on my NAS than find a file by name in my Documents folder 😞
(It never did find the file. I found it by hand in 10 seconds)
@stroughtonsmith Don’t even try using Search from within Finder it just does a horrible job. I save more time by finding files and apps manually or from within the app itself.
