Mind blown that the song “John Brown's Body” actually predated and what the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” is based on, meaning that this song now associated with militarism was once a song about abolishing slavery, and that the Civil War was framed in explicitly religious terms.

I have a new work-in-progress theorizing on Russell Maroon Shoatz's work on marronage, dragons, and hydra and its application on the Philippines, particularly situating the CPP-NPA in a history of marronage. Anyone want to read it and provide comments?

Remembering that time when I watched ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE and I was like, “hey I really relate to Mile's struggles for some reason, I wonder why,” and the reason is because “Simoun Magsalin” is my anarchist alter ego and I can't tell my family what the hell I've been up to all the time.

I'm a bit disturbed by this opinion piece saying the solidarity economy by Cooperation Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi isn't real. Anyone know more about this?

My multiverse of madness is learning the Philippine constitution enshrines and legalizes involuntary servitude for people convicted of a crime, patterned after the 13th amendment to the US constitution.

Bill of Rights, Philippine constitution:
SECTION 18. (2) No involuntary servitude in any form shall exist except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted.

13th Amendment, US Constitution:
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

What this image gets wrong is that not only did anarchists historically oppose colonialism and support national liberation, but the Palestinians do not have a state. Their so-called government "The State of Palestine" is a collaborationist regime. The state that exists in Palestine is and has always been the Zionist regime.

Americans should be horrified they have no choice but to vote for genocide. They should be weeping as they cast their vote due to the futility of it all. Instead they're defending genocide Joe and cursing those who simply point out both choices lead to genocide.

abolisyonista,

“Do you want more genocide?” they ask us. Of course not, but if these people are against genocide, why do they wholeheartedly support lesser evilism with Biden? To support the lesser evil should be viscerally painful, to be full of regret and grief. This is always how it is in our stories where the heroes are faced with such impossible choices. But reality is much stranger: there is no regret and grief, only support for the infanticide machine.

Stealing something from elsewhere: “One of the major challenges for liberatory politics today seems to be how to resist Western imperialism without acting as impotent cheerleaders for conservative forces who, while opposing Western imperialism, also oppress our comrades in their countries' progressive social mvmts”

THANKS I HATE IT. More rogue corporate actors are carrying out unsanctioned geoengineering projects. These projects may spell genocide due to drought and termination shock (it's a long discussion).

Now, the generative AI image of “salmon in a river” outputting chungus ginormous slabs of salmon sashimi slabs floating in the water is hilarious at first glance. It's also quite sad because the generative AI model associates salmon as its commodity-form not its species-being. The proud and noble fish is reduced to the value it can output as meat commodities. This sober thought is enough to turn one vegan.

Respected journalist Raissa Robles has earned the ire of National Democracy for saying in the “real history of EDSA,” National Democracy did not join the revolution until the very end. This isn't as accurate as it could be.

The leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines did refuse to participate in the snap election, this is known. But on EDSA they were out-mobilized. They joined, but could not lead.

National Democracts defends their position that National Democracy participated in EDSA, but National Democracy's struggle, both armed and social, is not the contention. What happened was that National Democracy rode coattails of the liberals and was left out of the EDSA consensus. They participated, but they failed to lead at the most crucial moment, to their eternal shame.

Finally! The mystery of who the Chinese Makhno was has been revealed and debunked! No, anarchist guerrillas did not operate against the CPC at Yunan during the 30s–50s. The Chinese American anarchist who mentioned the Chinese Makhno in his oral history simply didn’t have all the facts.

Saw another frustrating take from a National Democrat, this time saying that urban overcrowding can be solved through agrarian reform. So the logic goes, if agrarian reform develops the countryside, people don’t need to leave the rural for the urban.

(1) Urbanization is a largely inevitable process of capitalist development, regardless of agrarian reform.

(2) There is no provable link between agrarian reform and urbanization. Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam all underwent comprehensive agrarian reform programs and they all still experienced massive waves of urbanization.

(3) Marx and Engels long noted that capitalist development creates a divide between town and country. Only either a civilizational collapse (to the likes of the Bronze Age Collapse or the collapse of the Western Roman Empire) or communist/anarchist revolution that abolishes the antithesis between town and country can provide the basis for de-urbanization.

I read “The Hunger Games” trilogy but I'm not particularly interested in the the new book and film “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.” What's with this need to humanize bloodthirsty dictators? Does anyone really need an origin story film for Stalin and Hitler?

Actually... Stalin was a highwayman who robbed trains. If we framed the biopic as a heist film set on a train, plus add in the humor of “Death of Stalin,” it might just work! HIRE ME HOLLYWOOD.

All these kakampink afterlives are are annoying, for sure, but they're also fascinating. “Tama nga kami” is Spectacular power divested of any intention of taking power, a ghostly Hauntology of a liberal future robbed from the crib.

Apologies if I do not trust the party of National Democracy. National Democracy, the party of “criticism self-criticism,” has yet to do any self crit, or really any self-reflection, of their opportunist alliance with the open and proud fascist, Rodrigo Duterte.

These are incredibly important novel translations from an Armenian anarchist Alexander Atabekian who wrote on WW1, imperialism, the Russian Revolution, Tsarist ethnic cleansing of Kurds, the Armenian genocide, and even a proposal for a revolutionary “Free Army” (as opposed to Red or White). He was a student and contemporary of Kropotkin.

I don't care about your stupid election, Americanos. Will American jobs get the US out of the Philippines? Imperialism will never be on the ballot, neither in your country nor in mine.

Thank you everyone who helped me articulate why debating transphobia is bad. Apparently the person I was talking to considered explaining why transphobia is bad as debate and also didn’t want to platform transphobia.

Seeing the USA dancing towards civil war, thinking of the low-intensity civil war in the Philippines with the Maoist insurgency and how I don’t support either side. It’s a disturbingly similar picture.

Some socialists I'm trying to work with think they ought debate transphobia in the open. They're really set on this. Am I wrong here thinking that transphobia is not to be debated but silenced? To debate is to give platform, to give platform is to spread transphobia. Am I right on this?

I'm at an event commemorating the victims of Duterte's drug war and vigilante killings. It's hard to listen to. It's exhausting to remember the years of Duterte's rule and what happened. It is important to remember though.

@Loukas oh what? Of course not.

abolisyonista,

@Loukas The political dynasty that ran the dictatorship is back in power. Virtually no opposition in the legislature. Shit is fucked.
