Lenovo website.

I tried setting a password (generated using 1password) based on the specification. The password definitely has uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters, but the website validator wouldn't let me proceed.

After feeling frustrated, trying for more than 10 minutes, and also involving my husband to try it, we finally figured out the problem.

Before I reveal the solution, does anyone wanna guess why the form validator didn't work?

@mariatta @d I've had the same issue when I've tried to create an account at Apple for some reasons. The login field was completed by KeepassXC and the "submit" button never turned activated. Because a manual action had to be made...

What a sick pattern again. This is precisely why we use passwords managers.

Two related things I’ve noticed re: LLMs.

  1. People post a lot of screenshots from Bard and other low-grade tools and assume that is representative of all products.

  2. People seem to think accuracy of all LLMs is something like 40% or 50%. In reality, I estimate GPT-4 as 80% to 90% accurate depending on prompt complexity/precision.

I suspect most cynics haven’t actually tried GPT-4 and are piggybacking on internet hysteria as their primary source of knowledge on the subject.

@jamwil While I was discovering the generative AI such as GPT with ChatGPT, I've been also confronted to these various reactions. Some people keep arguing the tool is not "intelligent" or it just "copy" what it learned, or thinking the fails are pretty common.

And I've discovered it's actually a behaviour known as "AI Effect". That's pretty interesting.

@jamwil I think there is too much fantaisies around AI, and companies behind them are not innocent.

IMHO, AI is currently enduring the same "disappointment" as the space research would have to endure when they'll announce one day the discovery of an alien life. It would mostly be "just" bacteria or micro-organisms. For the general public, it will be a disappointment because everybody expect the little grey people.

Not too sure if it's a scam since it's the kinda thing I would expect some Mexicans to do but I got some spam call from someone offering me to watch YouTube videos, liking and subscribing and getting paid for it :blobcatderpy:

However the phone code is +216 so it's quite fishy

This 3rd party switch controller I got said it only worked for Switch and Windows if wired, but its working just fine with bluetooth on my #VoidLinux powered laptop

@joel So far I couldn't make work my Xbox one wireless pad (the Windows edition with a dongle) on Linux but it seems that's mostly the dongle which is not properly handed.
I've tried some drivers but nothing yet.

Now I wonder if the Switch Pro controller would work in bluetooth on Linux 🤔

Many bloggers aren't aware YouTube embeds contain Google tracking code. A trackerless version is available but is unsatisfactory for other reasons.

So I just went ahead and removed all YouTube video embeds from my blog:

@amoroso Just like nitter for twitter, invidious is an alternative frontend for Youtube that protects from the various trackers.

For example I use this instance hosted by a French associative ISP but there're others : https://invidious.fdn.fr/feed/popular

It supports embed video too.

@kev It's not my kind of dog but this one seems pretty cool either.

I'm in fond with Border Collies since I've had one in my childhood. Beautiful, kind, intelligent, and a furry full of energy. I wish I could have one now, but since I'm living in a city it would be unhappy (and even if I was closer to the country, it would be alone in the day while I'm at work.. so still unhappy).
