None of my 18650s are actually 65mm long. The longest 18650 I've found in my battery box is 70mm long even..

martijnbraam,
@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

@pavel I have a power bank that takes 18650 cells but you specifically need flat-top ones to make them fit. a properly sized 18650 with button top is already too big

martijnbraam,
@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

@not_benis these are unprotected. These are the legendary crappy UltraFire cells filled with sand.

martijnbraam,
@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

@pavel sellers should start making 18600 protected cells to deal with this or something :D

@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

@pavel That actually makes a lot of sense for a light. On my boards I generally also add a protection chip for the cells because you never know what will actually be attached.

Released version 1.6 of #turbocase with the integrated lid support, more parts, OpenSCAD customizer support and many more small features :)

3D printers are weird, when I change the filament temperature from 220 to 217degC in octoprint the resend ratio will start going up until it hits the next layer and it will reset to 220degC and the communication is fine again...

martijnbraam,
@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

@phragment but it's the extruder temperature

martijnbraam,
@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

@phragment yeah I'm pretty sure I have a micro-usb cable somewhere that has a ferrite bead on it, I probably should just order a shorter one, I have a 1.8M cable between the pi and the printer now :D

I've also found that the display cable has shielding issues but there doesn't seem to be shielded replacements for it...

Tasmota is pretty neat. Just demolished a "smart" plug and flashed it to make it work at all.

TurboCase can now actually render a lid for the case and I added some more cutouts to add to the sides

@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

I can now insert the PCB shape itself as a module into the OpenSCAD model with #turbocase to have a nice reference for the case design :)

Released TurboCase 1.4 now with support for placing these neat keyhole mounting thingies with a custom KiCad library :D

Finally added a linter for the libmegapixels config files to stop having issues with commas in the wrong places :)

Ah I found why my disk is suddenly full...

What are these things actually called?

@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

Added some basic KiCad library generation to make it way easier to add a bunch of similar 3D objects

martijnbraam,
@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

And these generate... holes!

@martijnbraam@fosstodon.org avatar

Aaaand support for cutting holes.

TurboCase can now add prefab parts to the generated case by inserting them from a custom KiCad footprint library.
