@jpmens @bert_hubert For the accuracy sake, It is worth mentioning that Kyivstar was not prepared for this kind of attack. Itโ€™s always unexpected and in case you canโ€™t deal with that the company is dead. Thanks to the Kyivstar engineers, basic services were restored within days, whole network and other services for 3โ€“4 weeks.

But this was not only the work of Kyivstar engineers. This is also support of the Ukrainian Security Service cybersecurity team and many others specialists.

@nixCraft Iโ€™m paying $0 for Oracle Cloud resources. Iโ€™ve offloaded to the cloud the part of home infrastructure including DNS, DHCP and the bunch of worker nodes for the home Kubernetes cluster.

It looks fantastic, but Oracle wonโ€™t charge you for the IPSec IKEv2 Site-to-Site VPN in case you will stay within 10 TB/mo of egress traffic.

@nixCraft I've seen them only in legacy apps so far. Everything we are writing now is written on bash/sh.

@nixCraft Iโ€™m surprised how Google Maps is bad in the Bay Area. Apple Maps still have some minor issues, but, in overall, they are better for US compared to the Google Maps.

@josh BTW, Apple Care is an excellent thing. Specially, to those who are cracking the screens of their iPhones on the monthly basis. Three repairs without it, and here is the price of the new iPhone.

I wish major smartphone makers could offer something similar.

@josh Yep, it's true! ๐Ÿ˜… Fanboy since 2008, and never regretted about that. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The only thing I'm complaining about, it's the lack of any kind of package manager for macOS. However, I fixed this with the Nix package manager, nix-darwin and home-manager. With these companions, macOS is the best OS for me for work and home!

@josh Wow, quite unexpected to see those here. I preserved MD deck and one portable with a pile of disks. Still use both of them. Sony MZ-N1 is my companion every time Iโ€™m going to office once per week.

@josh Oh, so you have a good chance to get one. Iโ€™ve used Buyee, a delivery proxy service, to bought my devices from Japan. Iโ€™ve snagged the deck for $200 plus shipping and the portable for the same amount with shipping. Itโ€™s funny, but Iโ€™ve got a Sony MZ-N1 in mint condition with the box, all accessories, and documentation.

The delivery is superfast to US. Besides that, Buyee provides some pleasant bonuses for the first purchase.

British researchers have trained an artificial intelligence to recognize keystrokes by sound. A smartphone placed near a laptop served as the microphone. How about copy & paste password using a password manager and protecting account with 2FA hardware keys? That would prevent the AI or not ?

And I did it today: I moved all my stuff from Instagram to @pixelfed. The import feature is really handsome; it does everything without extra effort.

But in my case, everything was not so simple. It appears Meta developers can properly convert to UTF-16 anything beyond ANSI. So, I'm literally forced to fix every description manually.

@pixelfed I'm sure this is not your fault. I was trying to convert UTF-16 strings from the JSON backup manually and got the same result. So, I assume the mistake was made by Meta Software.
