@stefanfendt @pattykimura @Greenseer Telling people you shouldn't be afraid, because we don't have all the data is stupid. Especially when society has literally told women, if you don't protect yourself it's your fault. Hoping some white knight will pop up, and protect us is also a really shit solution.

@stefanfendt @Greenseer You are missing the point, this isn't about every man being an asshole, it's that 1 in 5 women will be assaulted and that's just the data we know, every woman I've ever met has had a bad experience with a man. When we see these numbers, we can't pretend that it's just a few guys, it's a lot, and it's a system that protects them as well. So, when a woman says, I don't trust men, it's because she can't, you don't know what man you're gonna get, so you have to constantly be on guard. If you're a man who wouldn't hurt a woman then cool, it doesn't apply to you, but if you're getting angry, because women feel like they always need to protect themselves, then you really need to question what you're getting upset about.

The best part is people trying to find statistics trying to prove that bears are more dangerous than men and finding the opposite, and then getting more mad, because they don't actually want to learn, they just want to creep on women and girls with no consequences. The bear will only kill me, so...

And if you're a dude who would never abuse a woman physically, mentally or verbally, then no worries, the bear thing doesn't apply to you, you can just be an ally and work on making the world safer for women.

@noondlyt Right, I know tons of wonderful men, but I've also been assaulted, stalked, and harassed by men, and you'd be hard pressed to find a woman who hasn't, and it's really hard for some men to see apparently.

@Greenseer I don't think men are stupid, they can understand and the point of this exercise is to make them understand, and it should hurt, it should hurt that women are afraid, just like I feel hurt when men's mental health is ignored and mocked.

One of the things I love is when a noob starts watching Trek shows for the first time, and they're like, This is so silly, it's ridiculous, that guy turned into a lizard and impregnated his captain, that lady got possessed by a sex ghost that belonged to her grandma, the captain is sorting a room full of floofy guinea pigs, the ship runs on mushrooms, this theme song makes no sense, and I'm just like Yeah, isn't it great?! You either get it or you don't, I don't know what to tell you.

@KSargent I think what you grew up with matters, I was a Trek kid and didn't see the first three Star Wars movies until I was an adult, and to me they are good, but I don't get the hype, but I love Mandalorian and Andor, and have a weird love of the admittedly terrible sequels
