Happy #PrideMonth!!!

Happy . Here's my illustration of Williamsoniella coronata, a bisexual bennettitalean cone from the Middle of Yorkshire, England. This plant had a cone with both male (bright yellow outer) and female (inner cone) sections.

Here's my finished, coloured Procretevania exquisita drawing. This was a hatchet wasp from the Yixian Formation of China; hatchet wasps still exist today and specialise in parasitising cockroach ootheca.

I have a new post over on my #Patreon about the diversity of #bennettitalean leaves!!! I'm not particularly good at shameless self promotion, but if you like #paleobotany and #paleoart this is the kind of thing you can look forward to me posting over there! #paleontology

For those who are interested.... here's the link.... I'm just dumb and forgot to include it😅🤦‍♀️.
I really am bad at this self promoting.

For #FossilFriday here's a selection of completely unrelated theropods!

Happy !
Today, I'm sharing this illustration of a small sat on a mossy branch munching away at a giant lacewing! Some kalligrammatids had comparatively giant wingspans of 20cm or more, which might have dwarfed small .

I'm sharing something non-planty for this . Here's a selection of 🦖 and a pterosaur from the Hell Creek Formation, which I designed for a board game a few years ago. I'd like to come back to this project at some point. It was fun!

My massive #Wielandiella restoration is finally finished, so here's a taster. I might not post the whole image for a whole, as I'm saving it for something....

Another birdie for #FossilFriday . This time, #Cratoavis cearensis, landing on the fertile stems of a Welwitschiostrobus murili plant, with Welwitschiophyllum brasiliense leaves in the background. This was a tiny bird, less than 15cm long, including its tail streamers. #paleobotany #paleoart #plants

@gay_ornithischians Eeee! It was such a tiny bird!

Here's the receptive cone of #Wielandiella angustifolia! When developing the bracts, completely enclose the cone, with tips touching, but when ready for #pollination, the cone inside swells enough that the bracts are parted, allowing pollinators access #paleobotany #paleoart

Behold! A weird ammonite!
(Based on a comment on the forbidden platform that my bennettitalean cone yesterday looked like a stylised ammonite)

And that's all for tonight! This, and the rest of the diagrams I'm doing, are probably needlessly detailed, considering they're just to produce figures, but I'd like them to look at least semi-realistic when done, so I'm going all out with the textures!

@gay_ornithischians It's Wielandiella, a genus which extended from the Late Cretaceous to the latest Middle to earliest Late Jurassic. This one specifically is Wielandiella angustifolia.

I drew how I imagine Gadzooks looking from The Last Dragon Chronicles! I'm still getting used to my new pens, but I'm happy with how he looks!

Did pollinate some ?
This is an idea I've had which is explained below, but there are some caveats to this, one of which being a lack of corresponding/ conspecific female organs also with suitable anatomy. Thoughts?

Eeee! I finally have my copy of Dr Nathan Barling and Michael O'Sullivan's new #tabletopgaming #dinosaur guidebook! It was great being involved with a tiny part of the process, and I'm so pleased that #plants are getting some attention in this book! #FossilFriday #paleobotany #dnd

Up next is , a species from the of Argentina. This species had leaves with 2-8 narrow round-tiped lobes and is the youngest species from the southern hemisphere.

@Palaeojules@sauropods.win avatar

I'm not sure how long I'll keep this up for, but I want to do a series highlighting each species of Ginkgoales I restored. First up is #Ginkgoites #pluripartita. This was a very widespread species, found across the northern hemisphere in Early Cretaceous rocks from the northern USA, Canada, Greenland, Germany, Siberia, Franz Josef Land, and potentially also in the Morrison Formation. Its leaves show a lot of variation, with some having broad lobes and others being highly divided. #FossilFriday
