A long tiring journey but arrived on Orkney today for a good explore. Overcast, but here's a little tease of the Stones of Stenness.

The Devils Bridge, in the Cambrian mountains. It is 3 bridges built over each other. The first bridge was thought to have been constructed in the 12th century. The 2nd bridge was built in 1753, the top bridge was built in 1901.
The Devil agreed to build the first bridge in exchange for the soul of the first being to cross. However he was tricked out of his prize by a canny old woman, who threw bread across the bridge, which her dog ran after, becoming the first ‘being’!

Tonight's cooking tunes courtesy of Gong - Magic Brother, released 1969.

Where it all started for Gong, after leaving his band The Soft Machine, Daevid Allen formed Gong in 69. A beautiful debut often overlooked by the trilogy etc, but it all started here for the magic brothers and mystic sisters.

And so my collection begins!
I don't think that my taste in music has developed enough before now to give this a proper listen, despite endless recommendations.

I've had a lot of guidance from people on here about personal favourites and where to begin with such a big catalogue of work. All of it has been very welcome, unlike what I've experienced elsewhere. No eye rolling about how late I am to the party or patronising comments 😊
Mastodon is lovely 😍

@sharongascoigne I feel jealous that you have all this to discover! I only found him myself a few years ago. So glad you are enjoying him.
