The 1% rule states that the vast majority of social media users don't post comments and instead lurk or just vote

More broadly, it's commonly understood when you make an internet service that a small proportion of your users will use a massively disproportionate amount of your resources

Are there any services you use where you're the 1%?

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@jenbanim there's a few users here that probably use an undue share of OEC's Tradle and Chris Mccormick's Rogule services but luckily that's mostly static. I imagine the 10-15 or so regular posters here probably do more than the 300 or so signed up, but it'd be neat to know - Who's using the most of this instance? I'd assume @petes_bread_eqn_xls going by follower count, or maybe a bot?

I'd like to use a workflow where each #Mastodon message that gets bookmarked by me is automatically screenshotted to PNG, archived in a local directory and its text content + image descriptions get added to a text file (preferably #orgdown) together with a link to the screenshot and the original message URL.

Somebody willing to volunteer? 🙇

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@publicvoit some possible approaches:

  • integrate with mastodon.el's bookmark action
    • benefits: fully in emacs
    • cons: not availiable out of emacs
  • have a cron script pull your bookmark feed via API and do the capture action
    • benefits: works for all of your mastodon clients
    • cons: time delay
  • use regular page capture techniques like you are already doing with SingleFileZ
    • benefits: fits into your existing flow
    • cons: needs extra filtering

I don't know why the state of is bound and determined to build a port on toxic, sensitive wetlands when there's plenty of toxic, hyper-low-density industrial land around Magna. Heck, the Church has an enormous empty plot right next to the UP Intermodal. Let that be your port.

@Slyence @MrHandyMan @Cerbdashrdashus suprised she didn't take them to court, that's a good chunk of change and a decent lawyer I'd imagine could argue that the bath water product itself wasn't a "sexually oriented physical good", even if related to an adult actress. Wild if true.

I remember someone posting awhile back about a extension that collected feeds as you browsed, but I can't seem to find it anymore in the mastodon search or in Firefox's extension search. Anyone know of such an extension?

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@paul Thanks for sharing! I'm pretty sure now I had imagined it by mixing memories of StreetPass, but it could still be done. I think something like StreetPass's approach but using similar detection that Awesome-RSS, SmartRSS, or similar uses to find the feed urls instead of mastodon profile urls, and then clicking in the extension you can see feed urls its collected and export to OPML for importing into your favorite reader. It'll be a someday project for me unless someone else builds it first.

I finally finished my initial pack of German made Van Der Hagen safety razors and instead of just buying another pack of one kind I got a huge multipack of many brands. Going to start with a 5 pack of Egyptian made Shark Super Stainless Blades tomorrow. The Van Der Hagens have been pretty great, long lasting (its taken me months to go through a 5 pack), and easy to use, and are easy to find in the midwest.It'll be interesting to see how they compare.

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

#safetyrazorbladereview #3 Astra Superior Platinum, made in India. These were the thickest blade so far and held up pretty well. I needed a similar rinse cycle as the VanDerHagens, but they lasted about a week and half. Downside of the thicker blades is they were a bit harder to do detailing around the nose. Like Shark, simple cardboard packaging. Overall not bad, probably really nice for those with thicker beard hair.
#safetyrazor #shaving

Neblib,
@Neblib@mastodo.neoliber.al avatar

@kemotep I'm not sure of the material wrapping the blades (probably plastic) but the box containing the wrapped blades is cardboard. The Van Der Hagens came similar to how you described the Feather blades. I made sure this grab bag had Feather blades from @Slyence 's recommendation, looking forward to trying them eventually, especially knowing that you like them too.
