This is the kind of thing that really gets my brain churning, and not in a good way. This will bug me for days.

This box of Macaroni & Beef says, “30% MORE MEAT*
*REQUIRED BY THE MACARONI & BEEF IN SAUCE STANDARD”

Who establishes the macaroni & beef in sauce standard?

Is it the United Nations? The macaroni and beef board? Who?

LoneLocust,
@LoneLocust@mastodon.social avatar

@rscottjones That seems… oddly specific. Is there a standardized lasagna holotype? Has the FDA defined the exact ratio of beans to cheese in a bean burrito? Why THIS dish? Why don’t the 3 dozen other Stouffer’s frozen dishes tout their compliance? And why isn’t the standard named?

When a company complies with something, they typically identify it. EG, the organic food scam references the FDA standard because it sounds better.

This feels like there’s a story to be told about this label.

Is it a “crow of murders?”

Not by choice would I choose a day trip to Payson up the beeline highway (what asshole named that winding, hilly road a “bee line?”) on Memorial Day weekend but needs must.

I am absolutely exhausted after hours on that road in that traffic.

When I heard that vinyl records were making a comeback, at first I thought it was a collective joke (like a flash mob or something,) then I realized it was a massive practical joke being played on people.

But after seeing this news piece, which is the next “logical” step on the path back to the Edison wax cynlinder photograph, by way of the 8-track tape, I’m convinced this is far more sinister. They’re just trying to burn the word to the ground.

So, re-framing this story: the bug was not in iOS 17.5, but in earlier versions of iOS that never realized the database had either be corrupted by a fault in the deletion process or the database was corrupted by something else causing the deletion process to fail to do a proper deletion.

17.5 apparently cleared up the corruption, resurfacing the photos.

Believe me, I’ve seen that happen in database software before.

Is it wrong that I really want to try the trainer?

If you spend that much money, goddamnit, you’re gonna use it even if it fucking kills you.

I’d bet you even money he buys another Tesla, too.
