I’m almost through a book quoting Bigfooters from the 1970s. They were arrogant insisting that in 2 years or so, they would be vindicated. Here we are, 50 yrs later.
This topic has made me think about the day my dad died. I'll tell a story some will think horrific, but I found quite funny.
My dad died in his home. I was there. I called 911. They came - fire, police, and ultimately the coroner's van. It took a couple of hours before I was able to leave. The coroner's van had left somewhat earlier.
I needed to tell my wife, a teacher in class at the time, so I drove to her school. I stopped at QuikTrip for brunch.
…and I’ve gotten another 3 (or has it been 4?) alerts today, all for the same heat warning that starts at 10am tomorrow, which I’ve know about for several days now since they won’t stop sending these damn things.
And I just noticed that in the official heat warning, under the Urgency heading, it simple says to “take action with next hour.”
@rscottjones You’d think, but, from years of being the manager over a help desk, you’d be shocked how many times you find out, “oh, we’ve all been having these problems for weeks” and nobody bothered to tell the help desk.
Besides, why would the people sending the alerts need to receive them?
Like you, I’m sick of getting pointless alerts, but I’d hate to turn it off and a massive hail storm rolls in.
Considerably more important than the shocking revelation that PHX in the summer is hot.”
Our Labour candidate Henry Tufnell just called round, so had another chat with him. He reports a positive response on the doorstep 🤞. He's one of the good ones, would really like to see him in Parliament. Let's get him elected for Mid & South Pembrokeshire! #VoteLabour#GE2024#MidAndSouthPembrokeshirehttps://www.henrytufnell.com
I just saw a driver in San Francisco crash into a motorcyclist. It was terrifying to watch, and it was a terrible reminder of how dangerous our streets have become. Drivers are out of control, and the design of our streets isn’t helping.
