Current draft of the updated Hare documentation proposal for general feedback:

https://sircmpwn.srht.site

Jummit,

@drewdevault Under Project Structure > Directory structure, it's recommended to put the "example" module in the root. When following the conventions in the Makefiles section, wouldn't that conflict with the cmd/example binary?
I currently put the binary in bin/example as a workaround, but I feel like there should be a better way.

Jummit,

@drewdevault Gotcha. Just one more thing regarding the makefile: HAREFLAGS isn't used anywhere, I don't think that's intended.

Another tiny #100DaysToOffload #blog post, this time about HTML (seem like all bloggers are required to write about the platform at least once):

Jummit,

@tuckerm The git-to-html converter is inspired by RepoRat from RatFactor, you can check out it's source: https://ratfactor.com/repos/reporat/

Looking for some feedback on some thoughts on the

Jummit,

@whynothugo Interesting read! Do you think there are any licenses which are more effective than plain GPL? I've seen that many big tech companies flat-out ban AGLP, maybe that would be a better choice?

Men, what are some of your anxieties, insecurities, and problems you're dealing with and wish you had support for? Feel free to reply privately.

Jummit,

@drewdevault Being alone a lot, and as a result not making or retaining a lot of friends, or developing deeper relationships.

Jummit,

@drewdevault Thank you for asking, it makes me very happy to see this question asked! Regarding loneliness, it helps to know that it's a bigger (systemic?) issue, not just a personal one.

another lingering issue I've had with Roll-It: the name https://gitlab.com/zelikos/rollit/-/issues/29

more info is in the linked issue, but I'm gonna do a poll here:

  • Keep Roll-It, as the app has used that name for a long time
  • Gamble, suggested by @bragefuglseth
It's relevant to what the app does, but I'm a bit concerned about possible negative association with actual gambling
  • Something else; feel free to suggest here or on the issue tracker

#GNOME #GTK #LibAdwaita

Jummit,

@Akzel @bragefuglseth Would simply "Dicebag" or something along those lines work?

Guess what? Lua Programming Gems is available for free. If you're a Lua veteran or just starting, I'd say it's definitely worth giving it a read.

By the way, I'm considering delving into the subject of Lua and writing and/or making some videos. If you have any particular topics in mind that you think I should explore first, feel free to let me know.

Oh, and don't forget you can grab your free copy of Lua Programming Gems here: https://www.lua.org/gems/lpg.pdf. Happy coding!

Jummit,

@matadan Thanks for the resource! Definitely worth a read.

One thing I've wondered about the #sourcehut web interface is why there is no link at the top to https://paste.sr.ht/ ?
There is probably a valid reason for this.

Jummit,

@blainsmith @JustineSmithies This might be the only paper cut I've had with sr.ht. Links to quickly navigate between them would be pretty convenient.

I didn't know it was this easy to make big tech leave their fingers from your software.

Jummit,

@ArneBab @yogthos Yeah, thanks for the info! I'll definitely keep this in mind in my future licensing decissions.

Jummit,

@flameeyes @ArneBab @yogthos Interesting. That is one downside, although it does protect you from the embrace-extend-extinguish cycle.

Big tech: Piracy is a crime!
Also big tech: Downloads the entire internet and sells it

Pretty cool #gnome extension to add a grayscale filter to the entire screen: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/4012/gnome-bedtime/

Helps with reading, focusing or just reducing the amount of visual overload.

blake, to random

The number 1 thing that bugs me about #GNOME that I can't find an extension, tweak, or setting for: have Alt+Tab page through all my open windows instead of all my open apps. I just want to go to the last thing I was looking at, even if it's going from Firefox to Dev Tools or between file browser windows.

Jummit,

@blake Have you tried Alt+Escape? I think it's close to what you want.
