in a way it’s nice to know that my face isn’t super memorable - I have been using the same bicycle parking since 2018, and almost every time I go there the old man who collects my money asks me where I’m from and then excitedly tells me that his son-in-law is also British 😅 And every time I respond, あ、そうですか！いいですね 😄 he must think there’s a huge number of Britons living in the Fujisawa area

A week ago, Big Journalism had already consigned this epic scandal to the memory bin.

Had Biden done anything remotely like that, I guarantee that it would still be among the top stories of the day -- and Congress, including Democrats, would be moving toward impeachment.

I think the fact that Japanese people live longer, the population is smaller, and the birthrate is lower make it more pronounced.

But all developed countries suffer from lower and lower birthrate, as people find better ways to spend their time, and aren't dependent on descendants to take care of them.
